This week, we were thrilled to welcome back one of our former pupils, Jack Finlan, a professional boxer. Jack’s visit was truly inspiring as he shared with our pupils in years 7, 8, 9, and 10 how his time here at CTA played a pivotal role in shaping his successful boxing career.
During his assemblies, Jack emphasised the importance of respect and discipline, values deeply ingrained in both education and sport. He shared stories from his own journey, such as competing in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, highlighting how these values propelled him forward in the ring and in life.
Following the assemblies, Jack graciously fielded questions from eager pupils before leading a workshop. The overwhelming response led us to open an additional session, accommodating all pupils eager to participate. Under Jack’s guidance, pupils learned fundamental boxing drills, exercises, and even had the chance to practice light-contact techniques with their peers.
Mr. D Inman, Assistant Headteacher, stated: “Jack’s story—from being a pupil at CTA to achieving great heights as a professional boxer—is truly inspiring. It underscores the importance of attitude and tenacity in pursuing one’s dreams.”
A heartfelt thank you to Jack and his team for their invaluable contribution in inspiring and motivating our pupils today.
