- Students must wear dark-coloured shoes (not trainers, pumps or canvas shoes). Shoes may be ‘sports-styled’ but if there is a sports logo that is visible then this footwear is not appropriate. Footwear must be leather type, robust school shoes.
- Skirts should be modest in appearance (i.e. not too short [broadly knee length] or close fitting).
- Denim, canvas, jeans-styled or excessively tight fitting trousers in general, are not allowed.
- No extreme hairstyles are permitted (including tramlines and Mohican styles). Also, no strongly contrasting or unnatural colouring. Hair bands should be plain and inconspicuous – no flowers or other adornments are permitted.
- Make-up must be modest – a small amount of foundation and clear nail varnish only.
- Students are allowed to wear a single small stud earring in each ear. Nose and tongue studs or other body jewellery are not allowed (including ear expanders/spikes).
- A plain ring and watch are permitted but there should be no visible necklaces, bracelets or bangles.
Please note:
We do strive to maintain a high standard of uniform and the year offices are asked to apply the expectations consistently. Many of the expectations around uniform are made for health and safety considerations for a large working environment, as well as a neat and modest appearance. There should be no exceptions to the uniform policy, parents should contact school directly should there be any circumstances where they would have difficulties adhering to the school policy.
PE Kit during the Covid Pandemic
We have asked for students to come into school in their PE kits on days when they have practical PE and we are doing PE activities outside as much as possible. These policies have been put into place to help prevent the spread of the virus.
- The PE kit to be worn for PE lessons has remained exactly the same as it always has been.
- We tried to make it very clear if a student is coming to school and it is cold or wet then they could wear a coat, or water proof jacket/top over their PE kit. These extra coats/jackets/tops can not be worn around school or during PE lessons. If students feel they are going to be cold walking around school and during class room lessons they can wear their blazer over their PE kit.
- Also as the weather gets worse they can wear Track suit bottoms: Dark Blue or Black (school branded or other) over PE kit during the school day and during the PE lesson at the teacher’s discretion. The use of these track suit bottoms are at the teachers discretion for a PE lesson and therefore students MUST HAVE THEIR CORRECT PE KIT SHORTS/ SKORTS/ SKIRT /LEGGINGS UNDER THEIR TRACKSUIT BOTTOMS.
- Y11 girls who can wear Black cotton leggings (school branded or other) for PE lessons but must have shorts or skorts over the top when not in PE.
Students can bring in a water proof top/ jacket suitable for taking part in activity, teachers discretion if wearing is appropriate during a lesson.
Track suit bottoms: Dark Blue or Black (school branded or other) can be worn over PE kit during the school day and during the PE lesson at the teacher’s discretion.
