We are committed to raising aspirations. The events we organise are designed to open our pupils’ eyes to post-16 and post-18 education and career routes. Our plans for careers and aspirations are described in a road map which is shared with pupils, staff and parents. This road map drives our Raising Aspirations programme across the school and begins early in September when we ask all pupils in Years 7-11 to complete a Raising Aspirations questionnaire. Responses inform future events as part of the Raising Aspirations programme.
There have been over 89 different events organised as part of the CEIAG (Careers, Education, Information, Advice and Guidance) programme this year. These include: Year 10 and Year 12 employability workshops and practise interviews; a virtual tour of the Amazon Factory for Year 9 pupils; Year 10 and 12 Aspirations Evenings featuring Russell Group Universities; apprenticeship providers and employers; the completion of the CSCS Green Card by a group of Year 11 pupils, and finance workshops delivered by Nationwide Bank.
Every year a KPMG Work Experience Scheme is exclusively available to Year 10 pupils. This prestigious opportunity opens doors to a promising future. KPMG invite pupils to showcase their talents in a presentation task and interview, distinguishing themselves as the pupil who truly embodies potential. Pupils immerse themselves in the dynamic world of one of the top professional services firms, gaining valuable hands-on experience, insights and mentorship from industry experts. Through this process, pupils set themselves apart from their peers as this scheme becomes their springboard to a successful career. We encourage CTA pupils to unleash their potential with KPMG and seize this remarkable opportunity to excel.
We believe the key to pupils making successful choices is getting to know their options early and ensuring they hit the necessary milestones to reach their goal. We remind our pupils that competition is high so every grade they can grab puts them a step ahead. Our Raising Aspirations programme ensures they realise there is a direct link between the classroom and the world of work.
