Our Year 12 students recently presented their research findings and dissertation theses as part of their Level 3 Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). This extracurricular qualification offered by the Sixth Form is invaluable in allowing students to research topics beyond their three subjects; preparing them for life at university by honing their skills in academic research, referencing, critical thinking and writing.
Highlight topics ranged from Law: with “To what extent can the UK criminal legal system ensure justice is delivered – with reference to the case study of the Birmingham Six” to History: “to what extent was the creation of two rival states the main cause of the Korean War,” and to Social Justice: “to what extent was the law the leading cause of incarceration in the United States” and even Engineering: “to what extent do past and current hyper car safety futures shape the sport?”
This range of academic interests showcases the exemplary hard work and ambitiousness of our Year 12 pupils, and we wish them good luck in their upcoming university applications and future pursuits in academia!
