In their ninth Forest School session, led by Muddy Hands and Feet Forest School , pupils crafted mallets from locally coppiced wood. They showcased their growing ability with tools like the bow saw, billhook, and axe, and practiced their precision skills using whittling knives. Safety was paramount throughout, and we’re proud to say that our pupils demonstrated great responsibility in handling the tools.
After their hard work, pupils enjoyed a hot chocolate brewed in a storm kettle. Pupils took charge of keeping the fire roaring, learning valuable lessons in fuel management and environmental stewardship along the way.
We take immense pride in incorporating a forest school into our curriculum. Forest schools offer invaluable opportunities for our pupils to acquire practical life skills that extend far beyond traditional classrooms. Through activities like fire building, navigation, first aid, and outdoor survival skills, our pupils not only gain essential knowledge but equipped with the tools they need to thrive in various real-world situations, fostering independence and resilience along the way.
