In recent Year 7 Drama lessons pupils are applying their acting skills to performance poetry. During their lessons, pupils were focusing on how to use tone and emphasis to communicate different characters and tell the story of the poem: “Gran, Can you Rap?” by Jack Ousbey.

Mrs D Maymand, Subject Lead for Drama said “An important part of the Drama curriculum is experimentation and applying performance skills in different contexts. The performance poetry lessons also develop pupils’ understanding of poems, impacting on their achievement in English”

As you can see in the images below, Leyton, Reece, Gabriel and Joshua are working hard to portray some very dynamic characters!
