Yesterday, our Year 11 pupils had the pleasure of meeting Alicia from NCS, a government-funded programme designed to foster personal and social development for 16–17 year olds. NCS offers a unique 5-day, 4-night trip to themed camps with a range of exciting activities.
The camp themes include:
– ‘Live It’: To include independence-building tasks like cooking, finance, and well-being challenges.
– ‘Boss It’: To include entrepreneurial activities focused on business and turning hobbies into revenue.
– ‘Change It’: To include social action initiatives aimed at making a positive difference in the community.
The closest departure point is Stafford, and pupils can look forward to a variety of thrilling activities like archery, BMX biking, paddle sports, bouldering, sailing, search and rescue, and more. This is a fantastic opportunity for pupils aged 15-17 to boost their teamwork, communication, and confidence.
Limited spots are available for the Summer and October half-term sessions. To learn more and register, visit the NCS website: https://wearencs.com/head-away-from-home . Government funding helps keep the cost at just £95 for the entire week, covering accommodation, food, activities, and travel, even though the total value of the activities is around £1,500. Bursary options are available, and more information can be found on the NCS website.
A big thank you to Alicia for inspiring our pupils to take part in this amazing experience!
