Part of the personal development and citizenship curriculum is to develop our pupil’s understanding of the nine protected characteristics of discrimination under the Equality Act 2010. Through the understanding of the needs of our pupils, personal development lessons this week looked at these characteristics and focused on how we can all treat people fairly within the confines of race, discrimination, and equality. Pupils were taught about the positive use of language within this area and the effects of this within the wider community by assessing real-life scenarios and how they would respond to these in a positive manner.
