As part of our Remembrance commemorations, Miss Lindsey, Head of the House System, led assemblies highlighting the importance of remembrance, gratitude, and respect for those who have served our country. Pupils learned about the armistice and the theme of ‘service not self’.
Our Sixth Form students also led a “Thank You” campaign, inviting pupils and staff to write a message on a poppy. These are now beautifully displayed outside our dining hall. Poppies were also available in exchange for a small donation.
We are proud of Gethin, Year 7, who represented our school by laying a wreath at the Burntwood Memorial this weekend. Pupils in uniformed groups were also invited to wear their uniforms today to mark Remembrance Day.
The whole school observed a two-minute silence, led by Mr Cain, Deputy Headteacher, accompanied by ‘The Last Post’.
As a school community, we remember those who sacrificed their tomorrow for our today, and those who continue to serve. We are proud of the respect shown by all our pupils during this meaningful moment and reflected with gratitude on the importance of these sacrifices.
We will remember.
