Our A-Level Chemistry students have been busy in the lab! They have been analysing the composition of common over-the-counter pain medications using Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC). This technique allowed them to separate the different components on a specially coated plate, which can be visualised under UV light. The students also used TLC to assess the purity of the aspirin they synthesised earlier in the year, applying their practical skills to real-world applications of chemistry.
