Today, our Year 8 pupils took part in the Active Bystander Intervention Programme: ‘Step In, Speak Up’, focused on tackling violence against women and girls (VAWG), led by Performance in Education in partnership with Lichfield District Council.
The session addressed peer-on-peer abuse and the societal pressures that can make it difficult for young people to speak out. Pupils engaged with real-life scenarios, learning safe and effective ways to intervene.
Through the programme, students gained the tools to recognise harmful behaviours, the confidence to challenge them, and guidance on supporting both peers displaying concerning behaviour and those who may be victims of domestic abuse.
We are incredibly proud of the maturity and thoughtfulness our Year 8 pupils demonstrated throughout this important session.
