Bronze Carnegie Award for School Mental Health

We are incredibly proud to have been awarded the Bronze Carnegie Award for School Mental Health.
Our Mental Health Team, Mrs Darby and Mrs Thombs, reviewed our current provision, listened to feedback from students, staff and parents/carers, and made positive changes to strengthen mental health and wellbeing support across our school community.
The award also recognises our commitment to staff mental health and wellbeing, an area that has been embedded into our school culture through the work of Mrs Phillips, HR Assistant, ensuring wellbeing remains a priority for everyone at Chase Terrace Academy.
Here are some highlights from our final report:
- “The school has worked to grow a culture of mental health and wellbeing driven by strong relationships and backed by a school lead with the degree in School Mental Health from Leeds Beckett University”.
- “The culture has emphasised the importance of all staff and children, with the ‘less visible’ and quieter members knowing their voices are heard and respected.”
- “Working closely with Mental Health Support Teams indicates the level of engagement with professional services and the importance of MHWB in the school.”
- “Students know that concerns will be taken seriously, with additional voice given to this through the role of Wellbeing Ambassadors and the student leadership team which reports back on concerns.”
We’re incredibly proud of this achievement and would like to thank everyone who has played a part in the journey. While we’re celebrating this milestone, we’re also committed to continuing to build on this work to ensure the best possible support for all members of our school community.
Excellence in Pupil Development Award

We are proud to have achieved the Excellence in Pupil Development Award. This national UK accreditation recognises schools that provide outstanding pastoral care and holistic support, fostering personal development, confidence, resilience and wellbeing to prepare pupils for life.
Our assessor praised us as “a school that thinks very carefully about its personal development offer” and recognised that here, “every pupil matters.” Across all three inspection visits, our students’ behaviour was commended as “consistently polite, engaging well with their peers and communicating effectively.”
We are incredibly proud of this achievement, which reflects our sustained commitment to every student’s personal growth.
School Games Mark Gold Award

We are incredibly proud to share that our school has been awarded the School Games Mark GOLD Award for the third consecutive year!
This national recognition highlights our ongoing commitment to promoting competitive sport and physical activity, both within school and across our wider community. It celebrates the diverse opportunities we provide for all students to get active, participate, and thrive.
A huge thank you to our PE team for their hard work and passion – this achievement would not be possible without you!
UCL Beacon School Status

We’re proud to share that Chase Terrace Academy has officially been awarded ‘Beacon School’ status by University College London!
Thanks to the hard work of Mr Lloyd (Subject Leader) and our History team, we are now one of just 15 schools nationally to receive this prestigious recognition for outstanding Holocaust education. This is a testament to the high standard of teaching of the topic in not only our classrooms, but beyond at CTA as part of our extra-curricular and personal development provision.
The award will grant us a ‘Quality Mark in Teaching Excellence towards Holocaust Education,’ and is conferred to schools who consistently deliver outstanding teaching on the Holocaust in Nazi Germany.
This award marks our commitment to top-quality, research-led teaching and we’re excited to work closely with UCL to share their excellent practice with other schools, and enhance the university’s – and our own – research-based approach to teaching and learning as part the ‘Teaching Excellence Quality Mark.’
