We are thrilled to share our exciting collaboration with St Giles Hospice! Our talented pupils are participating in the “March of the Elephants” competition, a captivating public art sculpture trail set to grace the streets of Lichfield, Tamworth, and Sutton Coldfield in the summer of 2023.
This event is not just about art; it’s a celebration of our vibrant community’s creativity and a showcase of the remarkable talent in our region. In honour of St Giles Hospice’s 40th anniversary, they’ve teamed up with ‘wild in art’ to launch an art competition where our pupils will design large fiberglass elephants.
This competition fosters community engagement and unity whilst also providing our pupils with real-world experience by applying their skills to a live brief.
More than 60 magnificent elephant sculptures will adorn the streets, parks, and open spaces across Lichfield, Tamworth, and Sutton Coldfield for ten weeks. Following this spectacular display of creativity, these sculptures will be auctioned off to raise funds for St Giles Hospice.
Mrs H Van Daalen, our newly appointed Head of Art, shared her enthusiasm: “As an art department, we are thrilled to support this incredible charitable initiative and encourage our Year 8 pupils by offering lesson time, concept support, and artistic direction for their response designs.”
