End of Term Arrangements

As we approach the end of the school year, we would like to inform you of the arrangements for the last day of term, Friday 19th July. Please ensure that your child is in full uniform.

All pupils will follow their regular scheduled lessons throughout the morning. On this day, pupils will leave the school site at 12:20PM. Pupils that are eligible for free school meals will be able to collect a ‘grab and go’ food offer from New Hall until 12:40pm.

Pupil Librarian Award 2024

We are thrilled to celebrate Androniki, Year 8, for being awarded the Pupil Librarian Award for 2024!

Androniki has been an invaluable asset to our Library, consistently demonstrating dedication, responsibility, and enthusiasm. Her hard work and commitment truly embody our school values.

Last Friday, Androniki was presented with the award by Mrs. C. Cain, our Assistant Headteacher, and received a voucher to spend at WHSmith’s as a token of appreciation.

Mrs J Dutton, Librarian, said: “Androniki has been committed to her role as Pupil Librarian this year. She comes into the library every break and lunchtime and helps with shelving and tidying books, creating beautiful displays and supporting her peers. She is polite, respectful, punctual and conscientious and it has been a pleasure to watch Androniki grow in confidence and forge friendships after joining CTA late in the last academic year.”

Support during the Summer holidays

While our CATCH Hub will be closed during the Summer holidays, we’re committed to supporting our school community in every way we can.

In light of this, we want to ensure that families are aware of the resources available to them during the holiday break. Many local restaurants generously offer free or low-cost meals for children over the summer holidays. Please see below for a list of offers available.

Our CATCH Hub will reopen its doors when we return to school on Wednesday 4th September.

Sixth Form Annual Charity Sports Fundraiser

Recently, our Year 12 pupils participated in their annual charity rounders sports fundraiser, which this year also featured dodgeball. The event was a fantastic display of teamwork and community spirit, with all pupils enthusiastically getting involved.

Together, they raised over £500 for the Teenage Cancer Trust and Sixth Form charities.

A special thank you to Rihanna, Finlay, Harry, and Alex, our Sixth Form committee, for their outstanding organisation in making this event a success.

Mr R Giles, Head of Sixth Form, shared his thoughts on the event: “Yet again, the Sixth Form at CTA has provided a wonderful fundraising day for very worthy causes. It is an absolute pleasure to work on a daily basis with these wonderful young people.”

Celebrating our Year 10 Forensic Science Champions!

We are immensely proud of our Year 10 pupils who recently attended the John Taylor High School Forensic Science Competition. Competing against teams within the John Taylor MAT, our pupils showcased exceptional skills and teamwork in a challenging investigative scenario.

The competition revolved around a simulated plane crash investigation to determine if it was an accident or murder. With 6 survivors and the tragic deaths of the pilot and co-pilot (the latter murdered after parachuting to safety), our team was tasked with unravelling this mystery.

Throughout the day, our pupils engaged in various forensic science lessons, learning how to map DNA profiles and analyse crime scene evidence. Equipped with full PPE, they examined the crash and murder sites for crucial clues and navigated through extensive data, including fuel logs, suspect texts, and DNA profiles, to form a logical and compelling conclusion.

In the final phase, our team had just 30 minutes to compile their findings and present them to a panel of judges. We are thrilled to announce that our team’s presentation was judged the best, securing the competition victory! The judges commended our pupils for their thorough and accurate evaluation of the crime scene, their ability to pursue and eliminate false leads, and their ultimate determination of the murderer’s identity.

Celebrating Champions!

We are immensely proud to announce that our Year 10 boys football team are the Lichfield and Cannock District League champions! They finished the season with an impressive record of six wins and one draw.

Mr. J Barter, Subject Leader for PE, said: “I am incredibly proud of the conduct and performances of all pupils in what has been an absolutely fantastic season.”
