We are looking forward to welcoming our pupils and celebrating their successes on the upcoming results days, however, we also understand that the wait for collecting exam results can be a worrying and stressful time. Our team at CTA is here to support all pupils. You can always reach out to a member of staff for any assistance or guidance.

Reminder: A-Level Results Day!

We are excited to remind our pupils that A-Level Results Day is taking place on Thursday, 15^th August 2024. Results will be available from 9:00am in the library.

Our staff will be on hand from 9:00am to provide any specific exam or careers-related guidance you may need. We look forward to seeing all our Year 13 pupils there! For more information, please follow this link.

Summer school 2024 has been a huge success!

We kicked off with Years 7 to 9 on Monday and Tuesday, followed by welcoming our new Year 7 intake on Wednesday and Thursday. The problem-solving company joined us on Monday and Wednesday, delivering a range of challenging activities which encouraged all students to draw upon skills such as tenacity, teamwork, and communication, to name just a few.

We’re also very grateful to some of our staff who delivered some fun and engaging sessions based around Literacy, Art and Sport, some of the Artwork produced was particularly impressive! Finally, we were delighted to have Adam Proverbs with us from ‘Muddy Hands and Feet’ delivering Forest School sessions proving to us once again that ‘not all classrooms have four walls’!

Germany Trip reflection

On Sunday 14th July 40 pupils and 5 members of staff departed from CTA to visit the Rhineland. After a long journey by coach and ferry we arrived at our hotel, located directly on the Rhine promenade in the village of Boppard.

Day one began with a boat tour between Boppard and St Goar. Pupils then explored the town of St Goar, famous for the Lorelei rock nearby. We then continued our journey to Rudesheim to visit ‘Siegfried’s Mechanisches Musikkabinett’, which boasts one of the largest collections of mechanical instruments in Europe. The weather was gloriously hot and pupils enjoyed ice creams as they meandered around the town.

On the second day pupils visited the town of Cochem, home to the fairytale Reichsburg Castle – situated at the top of a very steep hill! The views from the castle were truly outstanding. Pupils then cooled down at Cochem wave and adventure pool, enjoying the wide variety of different pools, including the 55 metre- long speed tube of the water slide and the waterfall.

The Deutsches Eck (German corner) forms the confluence of the Moselle and Rhein. The statue of Kaiser Wilhelm stands here, affording some fantastic photo opportunities of the pupils and staff, followed by time to explore Koblenz. Then, we returned to Boppard to travel by chairlift to Gedeons Corner. Pupils enjoyed ice creams in the panorama restaurant with an amazing view onto the largest bend on the Rhine. Special mention must be made to Mrs Schlicht who conquered her fear of heights to ride by chairlift to a height of 240 metres whilst Mr Johnson stayed at the bottom!

Finally, the most eagerly awaited day of the week arrived – Phantasialand! Pupils enjoyed rollercoasters, such as the Taron, the longest multi launch rollercoaster in the world. Pupils then headed to the log flume with the world’s steepest drop and River Quest to enjoy the river rapids ride with the world’s biggest splash.

Before we knew it, the week was over! It is a privilege to be able to provide everlasting memories for our pupils to cherish for years to come. I would also like to thank Mr Cooper, Mr Johnson, Mrs Schlicht and Mrs Hughes for supporting me with the trip.

Year 12 pupils dream big with work experience!

During the last week of the school year, our Year 12 pupils completed work experience with a variety of placements. This year, they have been truly aspirational in the calibre of placements they have attained, and will support them greatly in their September applications for universities, employment, degree apprenticeships and further education.

A special thank you to Staffordshire Police HQ, Prince of Wales Theatre, Collins Aerospace, CBS News, Royal Mail Head Office, National Memorial Arboretum, Irwin Mitchell Solicitors LLP, UAV Engines, the National Trust and Midlands NHS Partnership Trust to name but a few! We would also like to thank Crown Highways for sharing their experience in hosting George H for the week. The standard of placements this year has been truly outstanding, and we thank each of these employers for taking the time to nurture and support our pupils in the world of work.

JTMAT Exceptional Achievement Award

We are thrilled to celebrate the remarkable achievements of our pupils who have received the prestigious JTMAT Exceptional Achievement Award!

Out of over 11,000 pupils across the Trust, only a handful were selected for this award. We are immensely proud of the pupils who have represented Chase Terrace Academy. Our heartfelt congratulations to all of the deserving recipients across the JTMAT.

The virtual ceremony this morning provided an opportunity for all nominated pupils to be commended by JTMAT CEO, Mr. M Donoghue. Certificates were presented by Mr. J Cain, Deputy Headteacher.

A huge round of applause to Grace (Year 12), Oliver (Year 10), and Connie (Year 9), who have all achieved a very high level of recognition in their category as a result of their exceptional achievements in various aspects of school and wider life. We would also like to celebrate Charlie and Hollie for their deserving nominations.

Nominations for this award can be made at any point in the academic year, based on specific criteria including national or international recognition in an activity, musical excellence, significant fundraising efforts for charity, or triumph over adversity.

Nominations for the next academic year will be communicated with parents/carers following our return from the summer break.

Celebrating our pupils!

This week, we are thrilled to shine a spotlight on the remarkable sporting achievements of two of our pupils.

Congratulations to Quentin, who met with Miss J Devereux, Assistant Headteacher, to celebrate his well-deserved awards of Player of the Year and Parents’ Player of the Year for his football team, Hednesford Newland Falcons. Quentin has been playing football for only two years, making this achievement even more impressive. Well done, Quentin!

We are also proud to recognise Mia, who met with Mrs C Cain, Assistant Headteacher, to celebrate her success in passing her coaching qualification at British Gymnastics. This is a significant accomplishment, and we couldn’t be prouder of her dedication and hard work.

Keep up the fantastic work, Quentin and Mia! Your achievements are an inspiration to us all.

Celebrating Our First Aid Champions!

Over the last 7 weeks, a group of our pupils have been attending First Aid lessons with Mrs. T Benton after school. We are thrilled to announce that they have become competent in the following life-saving areas:

• CPR 
• AED Use 
• Recovery Position 
• Scene Management 
• Anaphylaxis Recognition and Treatment, including the use of an EpiPen 
• Asthma Management 
• Choking Procedures 
• Bleeding Control 
• Applying Dressings and Slings 
• Handling Broken Bones 
• Managing Fainting and Panic Attacks 

We are incredibly proud to say that all pupils have successfully passed this comprehensive training!

Certificates were presented by Ms N Mason, Headteacher, and Mr M Newman, Deputy Headteacher, recognising their hard work and dedication.

A huge congratulations to all our newly certified first aiders! Your commitment to learning these essential skills is truly commendable.

Year 10 History Trip to Hardwick Hall

Our Year 10 History pupils had a fantastic time this week visiting Hardwick Hall!

This trip aimed to enrich their understanding of the ‘Historical Environment’ as part of their GCSE course, specifically linked to the Elizabethan era.

The pupils were able to explore the grandeur of the hall, gaining valuable insights into the architecture, lifestyle, and historical significance of this remarkable period.

A big thank you to our History Department for organising such a valuable educational outing and to the staff at Hardwick Hall for their hospitality.

Burntwood Wakes Festival

We are thrilled to share an upcoming event with our local community. The Burntwood Wakes Festival will be held this Saturday, 20th July at Burntwood Leisure Centre. This annual event, hosted by Burntwood Town Council, is completely free of charge!

There will be plenty of activities for young people and families, including rides, entertainment, and inflatables—all free!
