As part of our World Book Day celebrations this week, a group of our students were invited to Waterstones in Lichfield to exchange their World Book Day tokens for a brand‑new book. They had a fantastic time exploring the shelves and choosing their reads.

We are incredibly proud of our U13 Girls Football Team, who faced King Edwards School in a tough fixture this week. Although the result didn’t go our way, the team showed outstanding determination and tenacity right until the final whistle.

As we approach the summer examination period, our Year 11 students continue to work incredibly hard, and staff are doing all they can to support them with their final preparations.
A number of subjects will be offering revision and booster sessions over the Easter holiday. Full details can be found in the letter shared via the MyChildAtSchool app, as well as on the revision page of our school website.

We’ve enjoyed a whole week of wonderful celebrations across the school, marking our love of reading in lots of different ways. Today, our staff joined the fun by dressing up as Where’s Wally? and hiding around the school for pupils to find. Students were challenged to spot all the Wallys, with the closest guess winning 10 house points and a special prize. During Personal Development, pupils also tested their literary knowledge by matching staff to their book-themed answers.
Throughout the week, Year 8 students tackled the Big Brain Quiz on J.R.R. Tolkien, classes enjoyed a behind-the-scenes digital tour of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and many took part in the National Literacy Trust’s Great Big Footy & Booky Quiz 2026. It’s been a fantastic celebration of reading!

We’re incredibly proud of three of our Year 12 students who recently represented our school in the Lichfield Schools Speaking Competition, where they tackled the challenging question: “Immigration: who are the winners and losers?”
The event, hosted by the Houses of Parliament and Dave Robertson MP at Lichfield Cathedral, brought together students from across the region to explore this complex topic. Each participant was asked to deliver a well-balanced, well-researched argument – all while speaking confidently and clearly under pressure.
Our students rose to the challenge with real maturity. Judges praised their ability to present thoughtful, sophisticated points, handle questions calmly, and engage respectfully with different viewpoints. Preparing for such a demanding topic required hard work, critical thinking, and the courage to step outside their comfort zones – qualities that will stay with them long into the future.
Mr Lloyd, Assistant Head of Sixth Form, said:
“I am immensely proud of Hattie, Isabella and Evie for representing the school with such ambition and confidence. Public speaking at this level requires not only self-belief but also a deep understanding of complex global issues. They have been exceptional ambassadors for our community.”

Our Year 10 Progress Evening will take place on Thursday 12th March from 4:00pm to 6:30pm, providing a valuable opportunity for parents and carers to meet subject teachers and discuss their child’s progress.
Appointments will be held face-to-face in school, lasting five minutes each, and can be booked online from 8am on Wednesday 4th March until 12pm on Wednesday 11th March on a first come, first served basis via the booking system on our school website. In celebration of National Careers Week, we welcomed Becky Cullin, Apprentice Pastoral Support Officer from CAT Finning, to deliver a STEM activity with our Year 7 students.
As part of the UK, Scotland, and Ireland LEGO® bridge challenge, students worked in four teams to design bridges that could let Caterpillar heavy machinery pass underneath, hold weight on top, and stay within budget. After a nail-biting test, all bridges passed – with one team winning on cost efficiency, earning goody bags and securing our place on the national LEGO leaderboard.
A brilliant day of teamwork, problem-solving, and engineering in action!

Yesterday, a group of our students visited Newport Rugby Club as part of an initiative to inspire girls to try new sports and grow in confidence and resilience.
They took part in a tag rugby session, learning how to pass, tackle safely and understand basic game formations. A real highlight was getting to see the Women’s Rugby World Cup trophy up close!
Trip leader Mrs Lloyd said: “None of the students had played rugby before, but they all threw themselves into it – from the first drill to the final game. They got stuck in, got muddy, and had an absolutely fantastic time.”
A big thank you to Newport Rugby Club for such a brilliant experience!
