We are delighted to share what an absolutely unforgettable experience our students have had in Iceland! Please see below from Mr Ray:
“From the moment we arrived, it was non-stop exploration. Students stood in awe at some of Iceland’s most spectacular waterfalls – the mighty Skógafoss, the stunning Seljalandsfoss (yes, we walked behind it!), and the breath-taking power of Gullfoss. The scale and energy of these landscapes truly brought their Geography learning to life.
One of the highlights of the trip was hiking up Sólheimajökull Glacier. Equipped with helmets and crampons, students explored the frozen landscape, learning first-hand about glacial processes and climate change in one of Europe’s most dramatic environments.
We also ventured underground, walking through ancient lava tubes, experiencing the raw power of Iceland’s volcanic past. Watching Strokkur Geyser erupt right before our eyes was another unforgettable moment – the countdown, the anticipation, and then the incredible burst of boiling water shooting skyward!
Alongside these natural wonders, we spent time exploring Reykjavík and the beautiful coastal town of Vík, soaking up Icelandic culture and scenery.
Most importantly, the students were outstanding throughout. Their enthusiasm, curiosity and behaviour were exceptional, and they embraced every challenge and opportunity with positivity and maturity. They truly made the trip as special as the landscapes we visited.
It has been an amazing few days filled with adventure, laughter, learning and memories that will last a lifetime.

In celebration of International Book Giving Day this Friday, we are inviting students to collect a free book from the Library!
Our student librarians are running a stall throughout the week, offering a wide selection of titles to suit all interests – including the popular “Blind Date with a Book” experience. These books are wrapped so the cover and title are hidden, with only a few clues about the genre or storyline on the outside. Students choose their book based on the hints, adding a fun element of surprise and encouraging them to try something new.
We encourage all students to come along, explore the collection, and discover their next great read.

We are incredibly proud of our U13 Girls Football Team who secured a fantastic 3–1 victory in their recent fixture against The Friary School.
This was the first game of the season, and the girls displayed excellent teamwork, determination, and skill throughout the match. Well done to every player for a brilliant performance!

Our Year 8 drama students are currently developing their own children’s theatre pieces, inspired by the classic book ‘Where the Wild Things Are’.
In their lessons, students explored puppetry skills, learning how to bring characters to life through movement and expression. Even better – the Wild Things puppets were designed and created by the students themselves!
We’re so impressed by their creativity, teamwork, and imagination, and we can’t wait to see the Wild Things world come alive on stage

This Friday 13th February at lunchtime, Sixth Form students and Miss Gleeson, Assistant Headteacher, will be selling Valentine’s roses outside the Dining Hall. Each rose is individually wrapped in cellophane and costs £2 (cash only).
Roses can be purchased for anyone – a friend, sibling, parent, or someone special – making it a lovely way for students to spread kindness and brighten someone’s day.
All proceeds will go towards Kids Village Charity, so every purchase helps support an amazing cause. Thank you for your continued support!

A reminder that the Lichfield Mental Health Support Team will be hosting a parent drop-in at our school today, Monday 9th February, 2 – 4pm. This is an informal opportunity to enjoy a refreshment and speak with a member of the team about who they are, the support they offer, and how their service can help you and your child.

We kindly ask all parents and carers to be mindful of local residents, particularly on roads such as Lulworth Road and Oakdene Road, when dropping off or picking up students. To keep everyone safe and avoid disruption, please do not block driveways or park on local roads.
A further reminder that our school car park is reserved for:
· Collecting a pupil from first aid
· Pre-arranged meetings with staff
· Picking up a pupil for a daytime appointment
· Blue badge holders
Please avoid using the car park for routine drop-offs or to deliver forgotten items. Whenever possible, we encourage students to walk or cycle to school.
For instances when drop-off’s are unavoidable, we sincerely ask for your cooperation in being respectful and considerate towards our local residents. This includes following all traffic regulations and avoiding any actions that may inconvenience or endanger those in our community.
