CTA Theatre Company performance

We are incredibly proud of our CTA Theatre Company! On Friday, they delivered the first-ever performance of ‘Pandemexplosion’ by Mark Wheeller, commissioned by the International School of London, at the Lichfield Garrick Theatre. After months of rehearsals, it was fantastic to see their hard work pay off on stage.

Playwright Mark Wheeller himself described it as an “amazing performance with energy, commitment and pride.”

The evening also featured a live Q&A session with Mark, offering our pupils and audience a unique insight into the inspiration behind the play.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported this special event and to Ms Maymand for organising such a wonderful evening – we can’t wait for the next performance!

Summer Showcase Success!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our recent Summer Showcase! It was an incredible evening celebrating the amazing musical talent of our pupils. We were also treated to fantastic sets from our staff band and a performance from our sign language choir. It was a brilliant evening enjoyed by all.

Special thanks to Mr Reinikovas, Subject Leader for Music, and his team for planning such a wonderful event.

We’re so proud of our pupils and grateful to all who supported the evening!

University of Birmingham Trip

Our pupils recently had an excellent visit to the University of Birmingham. They enjoyed a warm welcome talk about university and higher education, followed by a guided tour of the impressive campus, including a visit to the Lapworth Museum.

Pupils also took part in a fun ‘course Pictionary’ activity and a Q&A session with current UoB students, gaining valuable insights into university life.

Sixth Form Rewards breakfast

Our Sixth Form team recently hosted a special breakfast for Year 12 pupils who have consistently gone above and beyond in their studies.

Mr R Giles, Head of Sixth Form, said:

“We are incredibly proud of the dedication and aspiration our Year 12 pupils continue to show. As they prepare for their summer exams next academic year, they are now building on their results in their trial exams and are focused on university applications and exploring post-18 pathways, including apprenticeships and employment opportunities. With work experience placements starting this week, we wish all our pupils the very best and look forward to seeing what they get up to.”

End of Term Arrangements

As we approach the end of the school year, we would like to inform you of the arrangements for the last day of term, Friday 18th July. Please ensure that your child attends in their CTA PE Kit.

All pupils will follow their regular scheduled lessons throughout the morning and will leave the school site at 12:20pm. Pupils who are eligible for free school meals will be able to collect a ‘grab and go’ food offer from New Hall from 12:20pm – 12:40pm.

Thank you for your continued support throughout the year. We wish all of our families a wonderful and restful summer break. We look forward to welcoming our pupils back to school on Wednesday 3rd September and further information will be shared in due course.

Rodeo Celebration Day

What a brilliant day we’ve had at our Rodeo Celebration!

This event was all about recognising and rewarding pupils who consistently show our school values and meet expectations – and what a celebration it was!

Pupils threw on their cowboy hats and enjoyed an action-packed day with something for everyone: line dancing, the ‘Miami Trip’ ride, rodeo pig and bull, inflatables, ice cream, candy floss, popcorn, penalty shootouts, craft stalls, and of course, karaoke (always a favourite!).

A big congratulations to Fallow House, who earned the most house points this year and bagged themselves a free ride on the rodeo pig and bull – great effort!

Huge thanks to Miss Lindsey, Head of House System, for organising such a fantastic event. We’re also grateful to all the staff who helped on the day, and a big well done to our Sixth Formers and Pupil Leadership team for running stalls and keeping things running smoothly.

What a fantastic Sports Day!

Our annual Sports Day was packed with energy, effort, and lots of fun. Our pupils gave it their all in a wide range of events, showing great sportsmanship and determination throughout. From sprints to relays (and everything in between!), there was something for everyone.

A huge shoutout to our amazing PE team for putting the whole day together so smoothly – your effort behind the scenes made it all possible. Thanks also to all staff who helped out and cheered on the action, and to our brilliant Year 12 volunteers who kept things running like clockwork.

We’re proud of every pupil who took part – you made it a day to remember. And of course, a special mention for the ever-popular staff race and Miss Lindsey’s top-tier commentary, which definitely brought the fun!

Sports Day: Hot weather adjustments

Pupils enjoyed a fantastic Sports Day today. In light of the hot weather, we made adjustments to keep everyone safe and comfortable, including water stations, sun cream dispensers, shaded areas, with an extended lunchtime and extra supervision to ensure pupils were sat in shade. The sports hall was also available for those needing a break from the sun throughout the day.

When not on the field, pupils took part in indoor personal development sessions. When your child arrives home this evening, we recommend they stay hydrated and avoid the sun.

We look forward to seeing everyone at tomorrow’s Rodeo Day!

Architecture Workshop

We were delighted to welcome former CTA pupil and recent graduate, Michael Harvey, back to school this week to lead an architecture workshop with a group of our pupils.

Pupils took part in a design competition, gaining a valuable insight into the world of architecture. Working in teams, they designed 3D pavilion structures for a location on our school site and presented their concepts to the class.

Thank you, Michael, for inspiring the next generation of designers!
