Sixth Form Employability Day

Our Sixth Form pupils took part in a valuable Employability Day today, gaining real interview experience through mock interviews with employers and entrepreneurs. This experience is designed to equip them with the skills, confidence, and insight needed for life beyond school. They approached this opportunity with maturity, and we are incredibly proud of them.

A huge thank you to the brilliant volunteers who supported our pupils, as well as to Metro Rail, the Department for Work and Pensions, Crown Highways, and Success at School for delivering engaging apprenticeship workshops. We were also delighted to welcome back five former students – now employees at Crown Highways – who shared their own apprenticeship journeys.

Sign up to the CTA Music School!

Our peripatetic Music Tuition Programme is now open for new student sign-ups for the Spring Term 2026. This programme offers high-quality, specialist music lessons delivered by experienced tutors, giving pupils the opportunity to learn and grow in a wide range of instruments.

Research continues to highlight the benefits of music education, including enhanced cognitive development, improved focus, increased self-esteem, and the development of valuable skills such as teamwork and perseverance.

For the upcoming term, we are offering lessons in:

• Guitar

• Piano/Keyboard

• Drums

• Singing

• Brass – Trumpet/Trombone

Lessons are 30 minutes long and available either in small groups (2–3 pupils) or on a one-to-one basis. Sessions take place during the school day on a rotating timetable to minimise disruption to other subjects.

It’s Thankful Thursday!

Today we celebrated the fantastic achievements of our pupils. Our Senior Leadership Team met with pupils who took part in a swimming competition over the weekend. They spoke about the many hours of training involved, the different techniques they use, and how grateful they are to their parents and carers for supporting them every step of the way in getting them to training and competitions.

Oliver also shared his achievement of becoming the junior regional champion in Cyclo- cross, competing against 85 people for first place! He shared how he recently trained and competed in Scotland and nationally! He pushes himself in all weathers, and we are so proud of his dedication and resilience.

We also celebrated Jack, who competed in a cross-country event this weekend. Despite cold, rainy, and challenging conditions, he showed incredible perseverance and determination. We are so proud of him for pushing through and giving his best!

Freddie and Amber were also recognised for their volunteering with Scouts and Explorers at Chasewater Railway, where they helped run a Christmas event for children with health needs. Leaders were full of praise for their hard work – and they even featured on Midlands Today!

We are so proud of all our students, their resilience, and the positive impact they have on our community.

INSET Day

A reminder that the school is closed to pupils this Friday 28th November.

We look forward to welcoming pupils back to school on Monday 1st December. A reminder that the school day starts promptly at 8:30am with Personal Development lessons. The pupil entrance gate closes at 08:25am, pupils that arrive after this time will need to enter school through the pupil entrance. 

Building skills through engineering.

As part of our Careers Programme, our Year 9 pupils recently took part in a workshop led by the Inspirational Learning Group. Working in teams, pupils were challenged to build towers using only playing cards, lollipop sticks and Sellotape. Their structures were then tested to see if they could support up to ten metal sheets, with the tallest successful tower crowned the winner!

This was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to develop their problem-solving skills, collaborate creatively, and explore potential career pathways in engineering. Well done to all involved, and thank you to the Inspirational Learning Group for visiting us!

CTA Theatre Company performance!

We are thrilled to share that our talented CTA Theatre Company will be performing ‘Ernie’s Incredible Illucinations’ by Alan Ayckbourn on Wednesday 10th December 2025 at 6:30pm at The Rugeley Rose Theatre.

Preparations are well underway, and the production is shaping up to be a truly fantastic showcase of our pupils’ creativity and hard work.

While refurbishment of Lees Hall continues, we’re delighted to be hosting this year’s performance in the wonderful Rugeley Rose Theatre – a professional venue that will provide an even more memorable experience for both pupils and audience members.

Sixth Form students compete at the Lord Mayor’s Quiz

Two teams of our exceptional Year 12 and Year 13 pupils recently represented our school at the Lord Mayor’s Quiz, held in the Grand Hall at the University of Birmingham. This annual event brings together schools from across the region to celebrate academic excellence while raising funds for local charities. Our pupils had the fantastic opportunity to meet the Lord Mayor and gain valuable experience taking part in such a high-profile event.

We are proud of all our pupils for their effort, teamwork, and professionalism in representing the school so admirably.

It was also wonderful to catch up with alumni Jayden, Mia and Lola, who are now studying Politics and Psychology. Seeing our former students thriving in their chosen fields is a powerful reminder of what our pupils can go on to achieve.
