Foodbank Update – Week 4
We continue to support each other.
Thank you for reading our plea each week for shortage items. Your response cannot be measured, other than to say that we are proud to be part of the Chase Terrace and Burntwood community.
Milk, wraps, part baked rolls and toilet rolls have all been welcome additions to our store of food. We were happy to meet a parent last week who was able to come and choose food that she required for herself after school. She could not believe the selection of items that was available to her and indicated that this was great source of support for her and the family.
Thank you to the Tonks family for their fresh food donation of fruit and salad once again this Thursday. We placed all these items into our food parcels the same evening before they went out for delivery on Friday morning.
We would like to mention Ruth Forster from local business, Wagstaff in Lichfield for a very generous box of items that she delivered to our doorstep early Wednesday morning. I think she covered everything on our plea list three times over. In addition, Valyou Recruitment dropped off some more business food donations Thursday evening… there were about 8 bags of shopping in total!! Beacon Community Church who have already, and continue to donate to our foodbank on a very regular basis have once again been very generous. We are really grateful to you.
We launched our presents and gift donations this week and we would like to thank you for the very thoughtful gifts that have already been received. A reminder that we are looking for unused presents, where the packaging is in good condition. Students will wrap these as part of their own community work and the school will deliver them to our students who are most in need in the last week of term.
Looking at our shelves we would like to send out a plea for the following items:
- Tea/ coffee/ squash
- Toilet rolls
- Tinned meat/ fish/protein
- Wraps/pitta breads/ part baked rolls
- Crisps
- Fresh fruit and vegetables (on Thursdays only)
- Household cleaning products.
Christmas items such as mince pies, stuffing, cranberry sauce (anything that would be part of a Christmas dinner.) No milk this week please.
Every single item that we receive is much appreciated. Food and gift donations will continue to be accepted every morning of the week by the Dining Room entrance. They are becoming essential on the run up to Christmas.
It is most vital that those families who are in need contact the school. We have a good selection of items and your calls will always be confidential. We are all in this together.
