Please find attached an important letter regarding COVID-19. Parents/Carers of students in Year 9 should read this urgently.
On behalf of the two Burntwood secondary schools, we would like to share information with parents of current Year 6 students about our virtual Open Evenings this year.
All students should now be attending school following government advice unless:-
They have symptoms – please check using this link for advice/support on symptoms, advice on if you need a test and how to get a test – https://111.nhs.uk/service/COVID-19
If a member of their household has symptoms and is awaiting a test result:
If the student has been contacted by track and trace – they would require 14 days self-isolation. Siblings can come to school. If they develop symptoms during this time they must self-isolate for 10 further days following first onset of symptoms.
If they have returned to the UK from a country that requires quarantine – they should self-isolate for 14 days.
If the child is clinically vulnerable and is in receipt of a new letter from the government giving guidance of self–isolation. (This is only likely to happen if there is a local lockdown in place) Please keep school informed of all Covid related circumstances involving students. Please could you forward screenshots of test appointments to support us in monitoring attendance and welfare of students. You must inform the school immediately if your child is confirmed as having a positive test result.
We are very much looking forward to welcoming students back to school this September.
To enable us to talk to all students in a safe and supportive way we have put in place an induction week.
Year 7 and 12 will be in school from Wednesday 2nd September and all other year groups will have a one hour induction session. The one hour sessions are very important for us to talk students through the new routines and procedures. Students are expected to attend in be in full uniform so that we check and support any issues before all students return full time on Monday 7th September. We will give students their planners and timetables so that they can plan for their full time start from Monday 7th September at 8.30am.
The induction times are as below:
Year 7 | From Wednesday 2nd September | 8:30am – 2:50pm |
Year 8 | Friday 4th September | 1:10pm – 2:10pm |
Year 9 | Thursday 3rd September | 8:50am – 9:50am |
Year 10 | Thursday 3rd September | 12:10pm – 1:10pm |
Year 11 | Friday 4th September | 9:00am – 10:00am |
Year 12 | Wednesday 2nd September (Thurs/Fri in school for introductory lessons) | 8:30am – 11:00am |
Year 13 | Thursday 3rd September | 1:50pm – 2:50pm |
Please ensure your child looks at this video which will show the updated procedures and hopefully answer any questions that you may have.
The car park nearest the Wych Elm will be open for drop offs this week only. From 7th September, when we have all students on site, the car park will remain locked and drop off will be from either the main car park or students are encouraged to walk/cycle to school.
FACE MASKS – Any student wishing to wear a face mask in corridors or communal areas should ensure that these are of plain design. There should be no patterns or large logo’s on the face mask. Students should ensure they know how to put on and remove their mask safely. Masks should be removed in lesson and placed in a plastic bag in the students bag. Masks will only be permitted if they are being worn responsibly.
I hope you have had a lovely summer break – we cannot wait to get safely back in school with you all.
The Chase Terrace Academy team.
