GCSE Results Day

We would like to wish the very best of luck to all our Year 11 pupils who will be receiving their GCSE results on Thursday 21^st August. Results will be available to collect from 9:00am in the school library. Please enter the building via main reception. Members of staff will be on hand from 9:00am to offer support with any exam or careers-related queries you may have. Representatives from our Sixth Form team will also be available for any pupils who have accepted places for September, as well as those who wish to make a late application.

Further information can be found in the letter sent on MCAS or under ‘Messages Home’ on our school website. We look forward to seeing you and celebrating your hard work and achievements.

A-Level Results Day 2025

We’re delighted to celebrate the excellent achievements of our Year 13 pupils in their 2025 A-Level and BTEC results. This cohort has represented Chase Terrace Academy, JTMAT, and our wider community with real distinction and pride. Their results are a testament to their determination, resilience, and consistent hard work!

Our pupils are now heading off to leading universities, highly competitive apprenticeships or directly into the world of work. Each and every one of them should feel incredibly proud of what they’ve accomplished. Particular congratulations to Zakary Lloyd, who achieved A*, A*, A* and will be studying history and politics at Birmingham University; Cassie Langley, who achieved A*, A*, A and will be studying history at the University of Liverpool; Elizabeth Jenkinson, who achieved A*, A*, Distinction* and will be studying Business Management at the University of Birmingham and Grace Larner who achieved A*, A, Distinction* and has secured an apprenticeship with BT.

Mr R Giles, Head of Sixth Form, commented, “Every year, our Sixth Form pupils make us proud, and the 2025 cohort is no exception. It’s been a privilege working alongside these talented young people, and we know they will go on to achieve great things thanks to the effort and determination they’ve consistently shown. We have a breadth of pupils going to some of the best universities to study some of the most competitive courses, including Architecture at Loughborough University, Psychology at the University of Liverpool, Medicine at Keele University and Computer Science at Lancaster University. We have every confidence that all pupils will continue to achieve remarkable things in the years ahead.”

We wish all of our pupils the very best as they move on to the next stage of their journeys – whether that’s higher education, apprenticeships, or employment – and look forward to welcoming them back in the future to inspire those who follow in their footsteps.

Reisen im Rheinland

We’ve received the following update from staff returning from a fantastic trip to Germany with our Year 8 pupils:

Shortly after midnight on Sunday 13th July, 40 pupils from Chase Terrace Academy set off to Boppard in the Rhein Valley. After a long journey, pupils were amazed by the views as they arrived.

On the first evening, they explored the local area and played football in the park – thankfully no footballs were lost in the river Rhein!

Monday saw a visit to the idyllic town of St Goar, where pupils practised their German buying Frühstück Eis (breakfast ice creams) and souvenirs. A coach-ferry then took the group to the picturesque town of Rüdesheim, where they visited Sigfried’s Mechanical Music Museum before enjoying free time and local restaurants.

Tuesday began with a guided tour of Cochem Castle, learning about its history and heritage. Later, pupils braved the waves and waterslides at Moselbad Cochem.

Wednesday was a day at height! After visiting the Kaiser Wilhelm monument in Koblenz, pupils rode the Seilbahn (cable car) over the Rhein and explored the old town of Koblenz. They finished the day at Vierseenblick, enjoying ice cream and drinks while admiring the breathtaking views.

The final day was the highlight for many – Phantasialand! With some of Europe’s top thrill rides, pupils enjoyed a fantastic end to the trip.

Throughout the week, pupils consistently demonstrated Chase Terrace Academy values. Staff, hoteliers and coach drivers praised their conduct, teamwork, and effort to use their German language skills.

It has been an amazing week, and we are incredibly proud of our pupils; we couldn’t think of a better way to end a fantastic school year – we hope that this experience will further inspire pupils in the field of modern foreign languages as well as enhancing their personal development and cultural capital. We hope that many pupils will wish to visit Germany again in the future!

Return to School – September 2025

As we prepare for the next academic year, we would like to share our return-to-school arrangements.

All pupils will return to school on Wednesday 3rd September 2025 and should access the school grounds via the pupil entrance on Bridge Cross Road only.

We will be having a staggered start to ensure a smooth transition:

– Our new Year 7 pupils are expected to arrive at 8:30am. They will be collected by a member of staff at the school gate and escorted to the Year 7 courtyard. All Year 7 Personal Development tutors will then gather their pupils and take them to their Personal Development rooms. Timetables will be issued, uniform checks explained, and the morning will include icebreaker activities, a tour of the school, and an assembly.

– Pupils in all other year groups are expected to arrive at 9:30am. They should proceed to their Personal Development room to receive their timetable and attend an assembly. Breaktime will follow as normal, with the usual lessons and school structure resuming thereafter.

Year 12 pupils are expected to arrive for 8:30am and Year 13 pupils are expected to arrive for 10:00am. Pupils should report to the Sixth Form study room upon their arrival.

Celebrating Success in Year 10 Mock Interviews

Recently, Miss J Devereux, Assistant Headteacher, and Mrs J Poppleton, Director of Careers, proudly recognised a group of our Year 10 pupils for their outstanding performance in this year’s recent mock interviews.

Mrs. Poppleton commented:

“It’s been fantastic to celebrate the achievements of these pupils. Whether recognised by myself, Miss Devereux, or our visiting employers, each pupil stood out for their confidence, preparation, and professionalism. Many of our guests also highlighted how incredibly respectful all the pupils were throughout the day.”

These interviews are a key part of helping our pupils develop important life skills and grow in confidence for their future careers. We couldn’t be prouder of their efforts.

French Trip update!

We have received the following update from Mrs Scholes, Trip Leader:

On Day one of the trip, pupils went to the sealife centre Nausicaa where we learned about ecological marine life and saw a sea lion training session where the keepers teach the animals to position themselves to enable them to be checked over medically. We then spent a couple of hours on the beach where the pupils enjoyed games of volleyball and football as well as practising their French to order ‘deux boules de glace’. The evening was spent at the centre playing football and volleyball.

On Tuesday we spent the morning in St Omer where pupils got to explore a French town and practise the language they have been learning this half term in school.

We also went to a local bakery where the pupils learned all about the bread making process. The baker puts 150 loaves in the oven by hand in 5 minutes!! All pupils showed great aspiration and community in their ability to support each other in translating what the baker had said.

CTA earns School Games Gold Award

We’re incredibly proud to announce that we’ve been awarded the School Games Mark Gold Award for the second year running!

This national award recognises our school’s commitment to promoting competitive sport and physical activity, both within school and across our community. It celebrates the wide range of opportunities we offer for all pupils to get active, participate, and compete.

Year 9 historians reflect on modern conflicts!

Our Year 9 pupils embarked on a school trip today to the Imperial War Museum in Manchester. Here, they examined the sources, stories and scholarship surrounding all aspects of modern warfare – such as World War I, World War II, the Cold War and the War on Terror – which compliments and concludes their Key Stage 3 studies in Year 9 History.

Pupils witnessed exhibits such as the remnants of the 9/11 World Trade Centre attacks, Harrier Jump Jets from the Middle East, decommissioned nuclear weapons from the Cold War and tanks, clothing and other real artefacts from World War I and II.

This was a fascinating field trip which showed pupils that History is not just confined to textbooks and classrooms, but is constantly being shaped in the world around us each and every day.
