We are thrilled to share the exciting experiences our Year 7 pupils had during their Forest School adventure!
This week, the pupils delved into the fascinating world of fires. Safety was the priority, and after a thorough discussion, they explored the three essential elements for a fire: fuel, oxygen, and heat.
The hands-on learning continued as our pupils mastered the art of making different types of fires. Imagine the joy on their faces as they lit cotton wool with a flint and steel, honing their fine motor skills and displaying perseverance and resilience!
But that’s not all – the Forest School adventure reached its pinnacle with a delightful session of using a storm kettle to brew their very own hot chocolate. As the sweet aroma filled the air, pupils gathered around the dwindling fire embers to make s’mores, savouring the tasty treats they created themselves.
Mrs. S Southwell, Head of Year 7, shared her enthusiasm, saying, “I had a fantastic time supporting Forest School this week. It is a fantastic opportunity for pupils to develop their outdoor education skills and learn new things outside of the classroom environment. The pupils had a fantastic time, and I learned new things too!”
Forest School is more than just an outdoor activity; it’s a platform for skill development, teamwork, and connecting with nature. We can’t wait for more adventures and learning opportunities in the great outdoors!
