Our Year 10 Combined Science pupils have kicked off their GCSE courses with a hands-on food testing practical! They explored which foods contain sugars, starch, fats, and proteins using a range of scientific tests: iodine for starch, Benedict’s solution for reducing sugars, ethanol for lipids, and Biuret solution for proteins.
It was fantastic to see the group approach the experiment with such maturity and focus – a great start to their GCSE journey!
