We were delighted with our results at both GCSE and A-Level in 2024 as they showed that many of improvements made over the past three years have been sustained. The results are testament to all of the hard work of pupils and staff and our rapid and focused improvement agenda.
In 2024, the percentage of pupils achieving above grade 9 – 5 and 9 – 4 in Maths was above the national average for the third year in a row. The percentage of pupils achieving above grade 9 – 7, 9 – 5 and 9 – 4 in English has been above the national average for the past three years with over 32% of pupils achieving 9 – 7 in 2022.
Our progress figures have been in line with, or better than, national for two of the past three years – there was a slight dip in some areas this Summer due to it being the final cohort following our old curriculum.
The school’s overall average attainment 8 grade was 4.12 (the average grade achieved by pupils in their best 8 qualifications). Our provisional progress 8 score is -0.45, which means that this cohort made below expected progress for the reasons outlined above. In 2023 our progress score was -0.01 and in 2022, it was +0.19; this meant that our pupils made expected and above expected progress respectively.
Outcomes were very good in English, Art, Philosophy and Ethics, Performing Arts, Sport and Health and Social Care. The link below provides further information regarding the progress 8 measure:
At Key Stage 5, we also made sustained improvements: the average grade increased from C- (26.83 points) in 2019 to C= (30.65) in 2024.
39% of all A-Level entries were awarded A* – B compared to 23% in 2019; the average grade across all of our Applied General courses was distinction.
We also celebrated a 96% pass rate across all courses.
Outcomes in the Sixth Form were particularly strong in English Literature and Sport.
