As we enter the end of the Autumn Term, we would like to take the opportunity to reflect on last Friday, when we had the privilege of celebrating six extraordinary pupils who have been nominated for the Exceptional Achievement Award in the John Taylor MAT schools. This award recognises outstanding achievements, resilience, and determination, and these pupils are the first ever cohort to be nominated.
Nominations for the Spring term are now open and more information regarding this can be found on our school website at www.chaseterraceacademy.co.uk.
Annabel has been nominated for overcoming adversity. Her journey, marked by courage and determination, began with a diagnosis of Osteosarcoma. Annabel faced chemotherapy, an above knee amputation, and countless challenges, but she triumphed with grace. Today, she’s a travel blogger, model, and a member of the Paralympic England Ladies Football team, to name a few of her achievements.
Daniel, who joined the session virtually, exemplifies resilience and tenacity despite facing physical challenges due to Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. His pursuit of education, studying A Levels in Biology, Psychology, and History, showcases his determination. Dan is also passionate about journalism and dreams of studying sports journalism at university.
Jasmine, registered as visually impaired, has been nominated for her compassion and kindness within the selfless way that she uses her skills to help others in the community. Transitioning into the Sixth Form, she excels academically and dedicates herself to helping others. Her compassion shines through as she volunteers in the CATCH Hub and mentors fellow pupils with visual impairments.
Ava, a powerhouse in British Gymnastics, has secured the remarkable position of 5th in a highly competitive sport. Her dedication, discipline, and skill have earned her this incredible achievement and, as a school, we are incredibly proud of her.
Dougie, a sharpshooter in British Rifle Shooting, has clinched the top spot in the 10m category. His precision and focus have made him a champion in this demanding sport.
Andrew’s nomination stems from his regional representation in athletics, showcasing his prowess on the track. His dedication to the sport and commitment to representing our school regionally is commendable.
Join us in celebrating the remarkable achievements of these outstanding pupils! Their stories inspire us all to reach for the stars and overcome any challenges life may throw our way.
