We’re thrilled to share the amazing experience our Year 8 pupils had during their recent visit to Staffordshire University, organised in collaboration with Higher Horizons.
The day kicked off with a comprehensive campus tour, allowing our pupils to get a glimpse of university life firsthand.
Following the tour, our pupils were divided into groups for engaging workshops tailored to their interests. Some delved into the fascinating world of forensic science, crafting key rings with fingerprints and gaining insights into crime scene investigation. Others explored biology, diving deep into the workings of the eye and unravelling the mysteries of colour perception. Meanwhile, another group embarked on a journey into engineering, mastering the art of flying a plane using a flight simulator.
As the day drew to a close, our pupils attended a lecture on biodiversity, where they actively participated by posing thought-provoking questions and engaging in insightful discussions. One pupil summed up the experience, stating, “It was a great experience, I would definitely do it again, and I’ve learned a lot about what life at university would be like.”
We extend our gratitude to Staffordshire University and Higher Horizons for facilitating this enriching visit, providing our pupils with invaluable opportunities for growth and exploration.
