Recently, some of our Year 9 pupils had the privilege of attending a virtual session led by Peter Shafe, who provided an insightful exploration into “Refinery Process Technologies “
This insightful session perfectly complemented the Year 9 Science curriculum, providing our pupils with a deeper understanding of the processes, catalyst and equipment downstream of a distillation column.
Peter’s presentation was incredibly useful, shedding light on the various tasks a mechanical engineer might undertake, as well as highlighting the other essential roles involved in developing, designing, and commercializing refinery technology.
A huge thank you to Peter for his time and expertise, and for inspiring our pupils to consider exciting futures within this field!
Peter Shafe Co-founder & Director Omnatec
Peter is a co-founder and director at OmnaTec, an integrator dedicated to helping UK manufacturers automate their factory processes.
He began his career in the Oil & Gas industry, focusing on the design and development of refinery equipment. He discovered his passion for manufacturing while designing downhole tools and sensors, along with the production rigs to test them.
Peter spent seven years heading a team which created industrial torque products and in parallel developed the automated rigs to make their assembly and testing faster and easier. At OmnaTec, he now provides bespoke robotic and automated solutions for UK manufacturers.
