Pupil Premium
Introduced in April 2011, the Pupil Premium is a government initiative designed to provide additional funding to support eligible students. The aim is to help these students achieve their full potential.
Schools receive a set amount of funding for each student who meets one or more of the following criteria: currently eligible for Free School Meals, has received Free School Meals at any point in the past six years (Ever 6), or is currently looked after by the Local Authority or has been adopted. In addition, a Service Premium is available to support children whose parents are currently serving in the Armed Forces.
Objectives
- Although Pupil Premium funding is not ring-fenced, Chase Terrace Academy is committed to ensuring that the funding directly benefits the students it is intended to support, making a meaningful impact on their education and lives.
- The Pupil Premium is used to provide additional educational support, aimed at improving progress and raising aspirations among eligible students.
- The funding also helps to narrow the gap in attainment and address any underlying inequalities between students eligible for Pupil Premium and their peers.
Pupil Premium Strategy
The school continually seeks to develop strategies and interventions that can improve the progress and attainment of Pupil Premium students. National research findings and the school’s own data are used to identify barriers to learning and achievement for eligible students, both generally and specifically, and the most effective strategies to overcome them.
Our Pupil Premium Strategy is updated each academic year and available here:
