We have been taking a fantastic journey into the world of Roald Dahl to celebrate the sheer joy of reading on national Roald Dahl Day!
Our pupils have had a blast with various activities in our Learning Resource Centre. One of the highlights was the ‘Gobblefunk’ competition, where pupils had to decipher the quirky words the BFG uses and match them to their definitions. The lucky winner of this competition will receive a treasure trove of Roald Dahl books – a reader’s dream come true!
But that’s not all! Year 7 form tutors held a special surprise for our diligent pupils. Each tutor had a golden ticket to give away, secretly hiding it beneath the chair of a pupil they believe have made an outstanding start to the school year. The lucky recipients got to head down to the library and collect a goody bag filled with bookish treats! Pictured here are Sophie and Katrina, who were ecstatic to win their prizes!
Mrs. J Dutton, our dedicated librarian, reminds us that building a strong reading community in our school is incredibly important: “Reading supports progress across all subjects and opens doors to endless adventures through the pages of a book. I couldn’t be more thrilled with the enthusiasm our pupils have shown for reading and for today’s activities.”
Thank you to all our pupils and staff for embracing the magic of Roald Dahl and the joy of reading. Let’s keep the love for books alive, one page at a time!
