CATCH-Hub update!

We’re excited to share some wonderful news with our school community. The CATCH Hub is here to support our pupils and families in more ways than one.

What’s Available at the CATCH Hub:

– Free School Uniforms: We understand the importance of a uniform for our pupils. The CATCH Hub offers free school uniforms to those in need, ensuring that every child can feel confident and ready for school.

– Food Parcels: We believe that no family should go without a meal. Our CATCH Hub provides food parcels to help ensure that everyone in our school community has access to nutritious meals.

– Slow Cookers: We are lucky to have slow cookers in school to issue to any of our families who are in need. These might be useful for you as we head towards the autumnal weather. If you would like to take advantage of this scheme, please do not hesitate to contact the office on: office@chaseterraceacademy.co.uk or by phone: 01543 682286 Ext 100 and they can arrange collection with you.

You will need to be buzzed through the barrier on our car park and please note the direction of travel has changed around the car park. When you take the slow cooker, you will simply need to give your family name and the first line of your address.

Donate Your Unneeded Uniforms:

If you have school uniforms in good condition that are no longer needed, we invite you to consider donating them to our CATCH Hub. Your generosity can make a significant difference in the lives of our pupils.

Soaring to Success: Aspiration focus week!

Our school assembly theme this week will focus on raising aspiration and is led by Mr J Cain, Deputy Headteacher. As we delve into the week, we continue to inspire, motivate, and empower all of our pupils on their educational journey.

Mr J Cain will be encouraging pupils throughout the week to think both short-term and long-term about their aspirations, highlighting that it’s never too early to start planning the future! The assembly will highlight the importance of setting academic goals and for pupils to check what grades are needed to access the courses they are passionate about pursuing.

Feedback is invaluable for growth and we are teaching our pupils how to use their assessment results as a powerful tool for progress. Mr Cain will demonstrate to pupils within these assemblies, the importance of revision, using assessment feedback and working hard to achieve expected and aspirational grades.  

For our KS4 and KS5 pupils, a specific focus is placed on the crucial building blocks needed for academic growth: the significance of hard work, attending school and paying full attention in lessons and preparing for mock examinations, ahead of final GCSE exams next Summer. We’ve announced the dates for mock examinations and encourage pupils to get organised and start planning revision timetables at home. Pupils are being reminded of our ‘Know, Do, Review’ system that is in place at our school – a proven method for effective learning.

The key message that Mr. J Cain, Deputy Headteacher is sharing with pupils is: “Embrace challenges, for they are the stepping stones to your aspirations. With tenacity as your guide, you have the power to reach greater heights than you ever imagined. Your future is bright, and it starts with the choices you make today.”

We would like to remind all pupils, parents and carers of our upcoming Sixth Form Open Evening taking place on the 9^th November. We believe that when pupils join us at Chase Terrace Academy, they are embarking on a seven-year journey to success. We are looking forward showing our Year 11 pupils around our Sixth Form Centre and discussing the broad range of courses we have to offer to support their ambition.

Meet our Year 12 English Literature Stars!

We have witnessed a remarkable milestone in the journey of our Year 12 English Literature group this week, as pupils took a significant step forward in their KS5 study. In their pursuit of excellence, pupils embarked on a unique “flipped classroom” presentation approach, which places them in the role of the expert on specific chapters from the timeless novella, “The Picture of Dorian Gray.”

Here’s a glimpse into this innovative learning experience:

The pupils take on the responsibility of reading ahead, conducting in-depth research on their designated chapter, and preparing a captivating PowerPoint presentation. Their goal is to deliver their newfound knowledge to the class, aligning with the four assessment objectives crucial for success in this part of the exam.

Before their presentations, they first review and fine-tune their work with our dedicated staff members to ensure accuracy and mastery of the subject matter.

We are immensely proud of Tom and Grace, who bravely took the stage as the first presenters. Their professionalism and depth of knowledge left us all in awe! Tom humorously commented, “I don’t know how teachers do this five hours a day!”

This innovative learning approach not only enriches our pupils’ understanding of literature but also reinforces the idea that teaching and presenting are powerful tools for consolidating knowledge. After all, research suggests that we retain up to 80% of what we teach!

We couldn’t be prouder of our Year 12 English Literature group, who continue to inspire us with their dedication, curiosity, and willingness to explore new horizons in education.

Feel Good Friday is here again!

We’re all about celebrating the outstanding efforts and contributions of our pupils and have been thrilled to shine the spotlight on the incredible pupils who lent a helping hand during our Summer School programme over the six-week holiday and our KPMG finalists. Their dedication, commitment, and teamwork embody the very essence of our school values: Respect, Community, Tenacity, and Aspiration.

Our remarkable KS4 leaders had the privilege of meeting with the Headteacher to share their experiences and discuss why they were nominated. Mrs N Mason was truly inspired by their stories and their commitment to our school community. She shared: “It’s heart-warming to see our pupils embody our values so beautifully. We are so grateful for the hard work they put in over the summer; they made such a difference.”

KS5 leaders had the honour of a meaningful conversation with Mr J Cain, Deputy Headteacher. Their dedication and passion for our school community truly shone during their chat, reaffirming the strength of our values.

But that’s not all! We have more exciting news to share. Mr M Newman, Deputy Headteacher, had a special meeting with the finalists of the KPMG Interviews: Jessica and Jake. These exceptional pupils were chosen from a pool of 50 applicants to participate in work experience next July with the prestigious ‘big four’ company, KPMG. Mr M Newman, said: “Jessica and Jake’s achievements are a testament to their tenacity and ambition. They are a shining example of what our pupils can accomplish, and I have no doubt they will excel in their future endeavours.”

Second week of new canteen delights with ABM Catering!

We’re thrilled to share that our partnership with ABM Catering in the school canteen has been off to an incredible start. The feedback from our pupils and staff about the new food options has been overwhelmingly positive, and we couldn’t be happier.

As promised, we’re committed to keeping you in the loop as exciting updates unfold. So, here’s what has been on the menu this week:

– Chicken Tikka Wrap: A spicy, flavourful delight for your child’s taste buds.

– Spicy Chicken Pasta Bake: A spicy pasta experience like no other.

– Beef Burgers: Juicy and satisfying – a classic favourite.

– Nachos and Cheese: Crunchy, cheesy, and oh-so-delicious.

CTA Thankful Thursday – Week 2

It’s that time of the week again, where we come together to celebrate and express our gratitude for the incredible individuals who make our school community so special. The nominations for Week 2 of Thankful Thursday have poured in, and we are thrilled to highlight some remarkable pupils who truly embody the spirit of Chase Terrace Academy.

Lucy and Libby, Year 11:

These two exceptional pupils have shown immense kindness and compassion by selflessly assisting a fellow pupil in need, without hesitation. Their actions exemplify the close-knit school community we have here at CTA, where pupils genuinely care for one another.

Connie, Year 8:

Connie has been nominated for her outstanding dedication as a Year 8 runner. Her hard work not only helps keep our school running smoothly but also reflects her commitment to our shared values. We also wanted to take this time to celebrate Connie, who was scouted to play for Wolves Football Club and has played for them for six years!

Mrs L Finch, Academy Progress Lead met with Connie (pictured) this morning and said: “I had the absolute pleasure of meeting with Connie today for our Thankful Thursday, and I must say, it was an incredibly inspiring conversation! Connie shared with me her remarkable journey as a student-athlete here at CTA. Her tenacity and commitment to both her academics and her athletic pursuits are truly commendable.”

Erin, Year 11:

Ms N Mason, Headteacher, nominated Erin who recently applied for a KPMG work experience placement. Despite not securing a place, Erin overcame her reservations about the application process, she was very well prepared and demonstrated resilience throughout her interview.

Caris, Year 9:

Nominated for her exceptional reading skills and being a champion reader! But that’s not all – Caris is also working on writing her very own book. Her ambition and dedication is clear and she is an inspiration to us all.

Let’s continue to celebrate and appreciate these outstanding pupils who make CTA such a special place. We look forward to hearing more stories of gratitude and kindness in the weeks to come.

Open Evening

We are excited to welcome parents, carers and prospective pupils to our Opening Evening on 28 September to visit our school, and see everything that we have to offer.

You will have the opportunity to take a tour (approximately 90 minutes) of our school and meet our wonderful staff and pupils who will be showcasing all that our school has to offer. Subject-specific demonstrations and activities will be taking place across the school to give you an idea of what secondary school life is like, whilst being able to see our fantastic site and facilities! A presentation will take place in our main hall where senior leaders will be available to speak with families and answer any questions.

We ask that parents/carers book an arrival time to support us in making arrangements for the evening and to cater for all guests. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to book their preferred arrival time via this link https://shorturl.at/GNQ67. Tours will commence from 6pm and to enable all visitors to have sufficient time to visit all departments, the last tour will commence from 7:15pm.

Open mornings will also be made available for families to book and visit during the school day, following our Open Evening. Please keep an eye on our school website, Facebook and Twitter pages where further information will be released.
