Year 11 Performing Arts exam performances

Our Year 11 Performing Arts students recently showcased their exam performances, all inspired by the theme Common Ground.

Tasked with creating original work for a new community centre, students explored how people from all walks of life can come together to learn, create and celebrate. One group examined the enduring power of trees, imagining them as silent witnesses to our shared stories and histories, while the other used the warmth of a campfire to symbolise storytelling, connection and unity.

These performances have been beautifully enhanced by our talented Year 9 Art students, who took on the role of set designers and created key pieces, including a tree and campfire.

Supporting our students with exam pressures

With GCSE and A Level written examinations beginning next week, we recognise that some of our Year 11 and Year 13 students may be feeling increased levels of stress.

New guidance on mobile phone use in schools

The UK Government has confirmed that, under new legislation, all schools in England are now required by law to be mobile phone-free during the school day. This means students should not have access to mobile phones during lessons, between lessons, or at break and lunchtime, in line with national guidance.

This change puts children’s wellbeing and learning first. Research shows that phone-free schools support better focus, positive behaviour, improved wellbeing, and stronger face-to-face social interactions.

At Chase Terrace Academy, we are always looking for ways to strengthen our procedures to support students’ wellbeing, and with ways to ensure their learning time is protected. School and home working together in partnership provides a positive platform for us all to support young people. Please can we ask for your support in talking to your young people at home, and reminding them to ensure their phones are off whilst in school, and not a distraction to the important routines of the school day.

Sports leaders lead primary school football festival

A huge well done to our Sports Leaders who have led a primary school football festival this week, welcoming pupils from six local primary schools. A fantastic example of leadership, teamwork and community engagement – keep up the great work!

It’s Thankful Thursday!

Today, Miss Devereux met with Finlee, who was recently awarded Player of the Match for his football team, (Brereton Social Dragons – U12). Finlee has shown fantastic progress over recent weeks, demonstrating increased confidence, strength on the ball, and determination during matches. A well-deserved achievement and a great example of perseverance paying off.

Theo, has been nominated after successfully completing his football refereeing course. This is a brilliant accomplishment that shows commitment, responsibility, and a willingness to support sport at a community level. Becoming a referee is an excellent way to develop leadership skills while giving back to the game.

Finally, congratulations to Erin, who recently won a silver medal at a regional swimming competition. Erin trains an impressive five times a week with Chase Swimming Club, both in and out of the pool, showing real dedication to her sport. She has several upcoming competitions in butterfly and backstroke, and we wish her the very best.

We are extremely proud of all our students and their achievements beyond the classroom.

Maths Challenge Success

We are immensely proud to celebrate Ben’s extraordinary success in the Intermediate Maths Challenge.

Achieving a Gold award alone places him among the very top mathematicians nationally – but Ben went even further. He qualified for the next, highly selective stage of the competition, a level reached by only an elite group of students across the country. To then secure another Gold award in the prestigious Pink Kangaroo round is a truly remarkable accomplishment and a clear testament to his exceptional mathematical talent, determination, and problem-solving ability.

Well done Ben for this phenomenal achievement!

Can you help to inspire the future of our…

We are seeking volunteers to support Year 10 students at Chase Terrace Academy by taking part in mock interviews for our upcoming Employability Day. This is a valuable opportunity to help students gain confidence, develop key skills, and gain insight into the world of work as they prepare for their future careers.

The sessions will take place on Tuesday 14th July, from 9am to 3pm. Any time you are able to give – whether an hour or the full day – would be greatly appreciated.

All interview questions will be provided. Volunteers are simply asked to offer constructive feedback and guidance to students following their interviews.

Celebrating Year 10 Innovation with Lichfield Arts and Fuse…

Our Year 10 Technology students have been working with Lichfield Arts and Fuse Festival to respond to a real-world product design brief. Students were challenged to design and prototype a product that improves comfort at Fuse Festival, while remaining affordable, sustainable, and suitable for a wide range of ages.

We were delighted to welcome Cathy and Tim into school to judge the entries. The standard was exceptionally high, and the competition was tough – we are incredibly proud of all our students’ work. As a ‘well done’ for their hard work, all students enjoyed a well-earned pizza lunch.

Congratulations to Haiden, Alfie and Harvey, who achieved first, second and third place. They were awarded trophies, certificates and vouchers from the Wildfire Fund, which celebrates and recognises young people’s talent.

A huge well done to all involved, and our thanks to Fuse Festival for inviting our students to take part in this fantastic initiative!
