This week, in celebration of National Apprenticeship Week, we are welcoming external providers to CTA to lead assemblies for each year group, exploring exciting apprenticeship opportunities for their futures.
Today, our Year 11 pupils had an informative session with Walsall College, where they learned about the various further and higher education courses available. Mrs. Poppleton, Director of Careers, also provided valuable insights into different types of apprenticeships and offered to review pupils’ CVs to support them in standing out in competitive job and apprenticeship applications.
A fantastic opportunity for our pupils to start thinking about their next steps!

As we enter the Spring term, our Year 9 pupils begin their exciting journey of choosing their GCSE options! This is a key moment as they select the subjects they will study in Years 10 and 11.
To support this process, we invite parents/carers and pupils to our Options Information Evening on Monday 10th February, 5:00pm – 6:30pm. The evening will include a short presentation on the options process, followed by the chance to meet subject staff, ask questions, and gather valuable insights.
We look forward to seeing you there!

This week, our assembly focus has been LGBTQIA+ History Month, with Mr Cooper leading discussions on the history of the movement and this year’s theme of ‘Activism and Social Change’.
Our assemblies highlighted key milestones, such as the Equality Act 2010 and the removal of Section 28 in 2003, as well as inspiring activists including:
– Allan Horsfall – founder of the Campaign for Homosexual Equality (1964)
– Lady Phyll – co-founder of UK Black Pride (2005)
– Paul Fairweather – activist during the AIDS crisis and Section 28 protests –
Christine Goodwin – whose court case led to the Gender Recognition Act 2004
In line with this year’s theme, pupils were encouraged to reflect on how they can be changemakers – whether by being an ally, standing up for others, or educating themselves with empathy and understanding.

We are excited to offer pupils the opportunity to take part in a First Aid Training Course, designed to equip them with essential life-saving skills. These six-week courses, led by a fully qualified instructor, will run on Tuesdays from 3pm – 4pm each half term, covering essential skills such as CPR, defibrillation, recovery position, choking, and more.
Upon completion, pupils will receive a competency certificate. Due to the practical nature of the training, places are limited to 12 pupils per half term, so we kindly ask for full commitment before applying. If your child secures a place, you will receive an email confirmation. If demand is high, they may be scheduled for a later session, with reminders sent in advance.
If you believe your child has a specific need for this training (e.g., participation in activities requiring first aid knowledge), please let us know.
If your child is interested in taking part, they can collect a letter from Mrs Benton in A5.

This week, Miss J Devereux, Assistant Headteacher, met with Warren and Cody to recognise their outstanding attitude in Forest School. They have been making excellent progress in their team-building and outdoor education skills, recently mastering the cobra knot and learning to split wood for a log store. Well done, both!
Did you know you can nominate your child for a Thankful Thursday or Feel Good Friday celebration?
We know our pupils achieve incredible things beyond the classroom, and we want to celebrate their successes!
If your child has demonstrated our school values of Respect, Community, Tenacity, or Aspiration – or excelled in sports, arts, community service, or any other area, we’d love to hear about it!
How it works:
– Nominations are reviewed by our Senior Leadership Team.
– If selected, your child will receive recognition and a feature on our Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and website.
– Due to high nomination volumes, recognition may not happen immediately – but every achievement will be celebrated!

At Chase Terrace Academy, our core values— Respect, Community, Tenacity, and Aspiration—guide everything we do. We are proud to be working towards the Excellence in Pupil Development Award, enhancing our Personal Development provision to support our pupils in becoming responsible citizens.
To continue improving, we value feedback from our community. All parents/carers have been emailed a short survey. Please note, this has been sent via an external company (which will show as AwardPlace by Optiumus Education) to the email address you have registered on the MyChildAtSchool app with. Alternatively, the survey can be found on the Terrace Talk Parental Bulletin on MCAS. Your participation will make a significant difference in our efforts to provide the best possible environment for your child’s growth and development. We would appreciate if you could take a short moment to complete this – thank you to all who have done this so far.

Last week, in anticipation of Holocaust Memorial Day, a group of Year 13 pupils who visited Auschwitz as part of our History Krakow trip gave their account of what they saw in the death camps. Elan T began the series of assemblies by telling his peers about the arrival and identification process at Auschwitz I, before handing over to Harry B who informed pupils about the genocide that occurred in the gas chambers of Auschwitz II Birkenau. Holly W and Cassie L closed the assembly, sharing their emotions and feelings of when they saw the belongings of the inmates and those of children – showing the horrific scale of the tragedy that occurred.
This was a particularly poignant assembly, and one which Mr Lloyd felt compelled to hand over to our pupils – who bravely gave their testimonies peer-to-peer – proving to be a powerful reminder of why our shared values of community and respect are so important today at not just Chase Terrace Academy, but beyond in the wider world.
