Pupil Leadership Team meet with Creative Burntwood
Our Pupil Leadership Team had a fantastic meeting today with Denise from Creative Burntwood to explore current opportunities for young people to get involved in within our community, including the upcoming Burntwood
Wakes Festival on 18th July. Students shared thoughtful ideas about the activities they’d like to get involved in and how they’d like to hear about local events. Their enthusiasm was brilliant, and we’re very grateful to Denise for speaking with them.

INSET Day – Friday 3rd July
A reminder that the school is closed to pupils this Friday 3rd July, due to staff training.
We look forward to welcoming pupils back to school on Monday 6th July. A reminder that the school day starts promptly at 8:30am with Personal Development lessons.

School arrangements for week commencing Monday 29th June
As the weather is set to return to lower temperatures from Monday, we will be returning to full school uniform expectations.
Students have the choice of wearing their PE polo shirt, or if they would prefer, they can continue to wear their shirt and tie. All other aspects of the school uniform remain non-negotiable and should be adhered to.
In addition, the school day will return to its normal finish time of 3:00pm. Students are expected to be in school by 8:25am for their Personal Development lessons.
A reminder that the school will be closed to pupils on Friday 3rd July due to staff training. We look forward to welcoming pupils back on Monday 6th July.

Awards Evening 2026
We are looking forward to celebrating our students at our Awards Evening tonight. Students who have been nominated have received invitations, and parents/carers have been contacted via MCAS to book seats.
A reminder of the timings can be found below:
Key Stage 3: 5:00pm – 6:30pm
Key Stage 4: 7:00pm – 8:30pm
Due to limited parking, we encourage families to walk where possible. On arrival, please enter through the Sixth Form Centre.
Students may attend wearing either their PE kit or summer uniform. Please note that the auditorium is air-conditioned, so although it may be warm outside, it can feel quite cool inside after a while. If students choose to wear a shirt, we kindly ask that they bring their school tie with them. They will be able to put this on for their photograph when receiving their award(s) but are not expected to wear it for the duration of the evening. We are aware that some year 11 students may have already donated their school uniforms to our CATCH Hub. They are not expected to wear their school uniform and may attend in smart attire.

Sports Leaders support Fulfen Primary School’s Sports Day!
A big well done to our Sports Leaders who supported Fulfen Primary School’s Sports Days this week!
They did an excellent job organising and leading a range of events, ensuring everything ran smoothly and creating a fun experience for all the children involved.
Thank you to Fulfen Primary School for inviting us – our students loved being part of such a great event!

Sixth Form students visit UCAS exhibition!
Earlier this week, our Year 12 cohort went to the UCAS exhibition held at the NEC. At the exhibition the students interacted with over 100 different universities, the armed forces, NHS representatives and apprenticeship providers. Various talks were given and Q&A sessions ran regarding choices, finances and living away from home. This trip runs every year to support the students in making their next step decisions regarding their post 18 plans and opportunities.
As always our CTA sixth form students were fantastic and really got stuck in, coming away with lots of ideas and questions answered. They shone our school values and we all had an extremely valuable time. Now to planning their futures!

Author Visit Announcement!
We’re delighted to share that, as part of our ongoing Literacy focus, award-winning author A.M. Dassu will be visiting our school on 29th June 2026!
Our Year 7 and 8 students will enjoy assemblies based on her acclaimed novel Kicked Out, followed by a special workshop where selected pupils can ask questions and learn more about her writing journey.

Sixth Form Charity Sports Event
Our Year 12 students recently took part in their annual charity sports fundraiser, enjoying a day of rounders and dodgeball while raising money for their chosen causes: Macmillan Cancer Support and the Sixth Form Fund.
We are delighted to share that they have already raised over £400, with donations still available to be made on MCAS!
A special thank you goes to our Sixth Form Committee for their exceptional organisation in making the event such a success and to all of the staff who supported and got involved!
