London Trip 2025

Our Year 11 and Year 13 pupils braved the storm and successfully made it to London!

Day 1: Pupils visited Hampton Court, the home of Henry VIII, and the Tower of London, to support them with their GCSE and A-Level studies of Tudor history.

Day 2: Pupils visited the British Museum, examining artefacts from Ancient Greece, Rome, Egypt and more! Afterwards, they took in the hustle and bustle of Borough Market for some delicious street food before boarding the Golden Hind – a 16th century ship owned by Sir Francis Drake. Pupils took on the role of ‘sea dogs’ – in which they discussed battle tactics and prepared the canons! Pupils then took in the sights along the River Thames, including Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre and the HMS Belfast, before visiting Covent Garden for some food and shopping!

Day 3: Pupils took in the City of London via a beautiful river cruise along the Thames. They then disembarked in Westminster, where they saw the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. Here, our pupils enhanced their personal development by reflecting on Britain’s heroes both at home and abroad – including suffragist Millicent Fawcett and wartime Prime Minister Winston Churchill. They then walked past the Cenotaph and Buckingham Palace, before undertaking a cross-curricular visit between History, Science and Geography via the Natural History Museum!

A huge thank you to our staff for organising this trip, we hope our pupils gained valuable insights for their studies and memories to last a lifetime!

Job Opportunity: Premises Painter/Decorator

As a proud partner academy within the JTMAT, we are looking to appoint a Premises Painter/Decorator to undertake a 9-month programme of redecoration across our school premises.

This is a full-time position, and shortlisting will initially focus on candidates available for full-time hours. However, if a full-time appointment is not possible, part-time hours may be considered. The ‘H82BL8’ Competition is Back for Spring Term 2025!

We’re so excited for the return of our ‘H82BL8’ challenge, starting Monday 27th January and running through to Friday 7th February.

This initiative is all about reducing late minutes and promoting punctuality across our school community.

Pupils will compete as a Personal Development group to achieve the least late minutes, with results averaged out per group. The winning forms in each year group will be chosen based on their lowest average late minutes. Our school Houses (Brocket, Sika, Fallow, Elk) will also go head-to-head, with the ultimate prize up for grabs!

Garrick Theatre Workshops

We were thrilled to welcome Sophie from the Lichfield Garrick Theatre to CTA to deliver a workshop for our Year 11 pupils. They worked on their devising skills in response to the Component 3 brief, working collaboratively to create original drama pieces. This workshop helped refine their creative thinking as they prepare for their final assessments.

Meanwhile, our Year 9 pupils took part in a session focused on devising skills in response to a stimulus. They worked collaboratively, channelling their creativity to bring fresh ideas and unique perspectives to life through drama and performance.

It’s been a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to grow and develop as performers, and we’re so grateful to the Garrick Theatre for their time.

Pupil poets selected for publication

Recently, Mrs Cain, Assistant Headteacher, and Mrs Dutton, Library Resource Centre Assistant, met with a group of talented pupils who participated in the YoungWriters competition, writing poems on the theme of “the beautiful truth.” We are incredibly proud that 18 of our pupils have been selected for publication – what an amazing accomplishment!

KS3 Interhouse Competition Results

At the end of last term, our KS3 pupils took part in an Interhouse competition in their PE lessons. Brocket, Elk, Fallow, and Sika went head-to-head in a variety of sports, including basketball, netball, rugby, dodgeball, table tennis, and more!

Year 10 BTEC Enterprise pupils interview entrepreneurs

Recently, we were delighted to welcome The Boss Partnership, Able Electrical, and Southall Harries to CTA. Our Year 10 BTEC Enterprise pupils had the invaluable opportunity to interview these business professionals.

As part of their studies, pupils will analyse the businesses, exploring the skills and characteristics of the entrepreneurs that have driven their success.

We are incredibly proud of our pupils for their exemplary behaviour and insightful questions throughout the sessions. Thank you to our visitors for sharing their expertise and inspiring the next generation of entrepreneurs and a huge thank you to all the businesses who generously offered their time and expertise to support our learners this year – your involvement is truly appreciated!

Personal Development Survey

At Chase Terrace Academy, our core values— Respect, Community, Tenacity, and Aspiration—guide everything we do. We are proud to be working towards the Excellence in Pupil Development Award, enhancing our Personal Development provision to support our pupils in becoming responsible citizens.

This journey has included enhancing our Personal Development programme. Each morning, from 8:30am to 9:00, pupils engage in lessons covering PSHE topics such as equality, British Values, and historical commemorations like D-Day and Black History Month. Recent highlights include discussions on the Equality Act’s protected characteristics and a successful drop-down day with tailored workshops.

To continue improving, we value feedback from our community. All parents/carers have been emailed a short survey.
