Last night, we held our second Parent Forum, an invaluable opportunity for us to connect with our parents/carers and discuss various aspects of our school’s progress and initiatives.

We discussed various important topics, including responses to the invaluable feedback provided in our previous parent surveys. For those who were unable to attend, we will be sending out a detailed letter shortly, outlining our responses to parental and pupil feedback, as discussed during the Forum.

Our Network Manager was on hand last night to offer in-person support with MyChildAtSchool (MCAS). We are providing further MCAS drop-in clinics where our ICT Technician will be available to ensure your app is set up correctly, allowing you to fully utilise all its features to stay informed about your child(ren)’s education. The clinics will take place on:

Wednesday 10 April – 09:00-10:00

Thursday 11 April – 14:00-15:00

Wednesday 16 April – 15:30-16:30

Celebrating National Careers Week!

In celebration of National Careers Week, pupils participated in activities aimed at guiding them towards their future aspirations. We’ve been privileged to host guest speakers from Higher Horizons, Marston’s, and more, who led insightful assemblies. During lunchtimes, pupils participated in careers-based activities, connecting subjects in our curriculum to real-world professions.

From guessing bizarre jobs like cheese sprayers were real or fake to engaging in thought-provoking discussions, our pupils truly embraced the spirit of exploration. Mrs. J Poppleton, Director of Careers, Information, and Guidance, remarked, “We’ve had a fantastic week celebrating National Careers Week with our pupils. Their enthusiasm and engagement have been exceptional.”

Drug and Alcohol Awareness Session at CTA!

We were thrilled to welcome Anji Haywood from The Youth Net back to our school for another insightful session on drug and alcohol awareness. Following her impactful visit with our Year 11 cohort last week, Anji returned to educate our Sixth Form pupils about the crucial aspects of substance abuse.

During her session, Anji engaged our pupils in a discussion about the effects of drug and alcohol abuse, emphasising the importance of making informed choices. She shed light on the number of units present in different alcoholic beverages and highlighted the legal limits for driving, which shockingly is less than one unit!

Anji also provided invaluable safety tips for nights out, including strategies to prevent spiking, and guidance on how to respond in such situations. It’s essential for our young adults to be equipped with this knowledge to navigate social settings safely.

Moreover, Anji delved into the side effects of nicotine addiction, addressing both smoking and vaping, and highlighted the dangers associated with drug use. These discussions are pivotal in fostering a culture of awareness and responsibility among our pupils.

We’re immensely grateful to Anji for her dedication to educating our pupils and empowering them to make informed decisions regarding their health and well-being.

World Book Day Door Decorating Competition Results!

In celebration of World Book Day, we held a door decorating competition, and we were absolutely blown away by the effort and talent showcased by our pupils and staff.

We would like to congratulate 11H as the winners of the competition for their spectacular ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ inspired door!

Staff departments/offices were also invited to take part, with the Learning Support Hub claiming the prize with their ‘Peter Pan’ inspired door!

Let’s continue to celebrate the joy of reading and storytelling every day. Congratulations once again to our winners and a heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated!

Y10 Business pupils engage with local businesses!

Our Year 10 BTEC Enterprise pupils recently had the incredible opportunity to engage with local businesses during a series of interviews. We were privileged to host Tiegan Norris from Home Instead Cannock, Jonathan Pritchard, Managing Director of the Anglesey Group, and Stacey Craddock from Saxon Chase.

Pupils spent the hour interviewing our guests in preparation for their first BTEC Assignment, equating to 30% of their GCSE. The business representatives were extremely impressed with our pupils’ abilities to pose questions and probe around a variety of different subjects in order to further their understanding.

Mr. S Royston, Curriculum Lead for BTEC Business and Enterprise, expressed his gratitude: “It was a privilege to welcome such fantastic guests to Chase Terrace Academy. They provided our Year 10 pupils with invaluable insights into their enterprises, making an enormous contribution to their studies. Our pupils, as always, conducted themselves impeccably and represented our academy community with distinction. Sitting coursework can still be nerve-wracking for some pupils, but I am extremely confident that, armed with the research they have conducted this afternoon, twinned with their tenacity and aspiration to be the best they can be, we will see great success from this assessment.”

INSET Day

Celebrating World Book Day at CTA!

We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of our Independent Learning Project in honour of World Book Day!

As part of this initiative, pupils have been working collaboratively in teams to research and uncover the inspiring story of Millicent Fawcett’s contributions to history.

Two teams per House were selected to put their knowledge to the test in an engaging quiz focused on Millicent Fawcett. We would like to congratulate Androniki and Isabelle for coming first place! They will be awarded 10 House Points as well as some chocolates as a token of our appreciation.
