We are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded the School Games Gold Mark Award for the 2023/24 academic year!
The School Games Mark, a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012 and facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust, rewards schools for their dedication to promoting competition within their school and the wider community.
Achieving this recognition is a testament to the hard work and commitment of our pupils, staff, and the entire school community. Our pupils have shown incredible enthusiasm and determination, participating in numerous local inter-school competitions. A special shoutout to our sports leaders, and officials who played a crucial role in making these events possible. As part of our successful application, we also met criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce, and clubs.
We extend our congratulations to our exceptional PE team for their dedication and effort in earning this fantastic accolade!

Our pupils had an incredible time participating in Judo workshops as part of National School Sports Week! A massive thank you to Mr. J Austin, the School Games Organiser for Burntwood and Lichfield, for running these fantastic sessions.
Mr Austin is responsible for promoting and enabling pupils from schools across Burntwood and Lichfield to participate in sport and physical activity. As a skilled Judo coach, he also runs a club at the University of Wolverhampton.
These workshops not only taught our pupils the fundamentals of Judo but also emphasised the importance of discipline, respect, and physical fitness.
Thank you, Mr. Austin, for your continued support and for making this week unforgettable for our pupils!

On Wednesday, we held our Rewards Evening at the Prince of Wales Theatre in Cannock for the first time. This special event celebrated our pupils and their remarkable achievements across various fields. Awards were presented in multiple categories, including Subject Awards, Head of Year Awards, Head of House Awards, and the prestigious Headteacher’s Award.
The evening was beautifully presented by our Sixth Form pupils, George, Jayden, Rihanna, and James, who shared their experiences at CTA and their future aspirations before presenting the awards.
We were also treated to exemplary musical performances by some of our talented pupils, showcasing the exceptional calibre of pupils at CTA.
We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the staff who planned this event, Miss S Lindsey and Miss H Pickerill, and to all staff members who nominated pupils for awards and attended in support. Special thanks to our guest speaker, Chris Bullock, who delivered an inspiring speech about Stephen Sutton, his enduring legacy at CTA, and his motivational messages.
Furthermore, we extend our gratitude to all our visitors, including our Chair of Governors, Mr A Stewart, and Mr M Donoghue, CEO of the JTMAT, for their presence and support.
Finally, we want to express our deepest appreciation to our pupils. As Ms Mason, Headteacher, said in her speech, they are the reason our staff do what we do, and we are incredibly proud of each one of them. Thank you to all the parents/carers for their ongoing support.
Here’s to celebrating our amazing CTA community and looking forward to even more achievements in the future!

In line with National ‘Thank a Teacher’ Day on Wednesday 19th June, we took the opportunity to recognise and appreciate all of our staff members. Pupils and staff were invited to fill out postcards with messages to show their appreciation for their chosen member of staff. This has been a fantastic way to bring our school community together.
Mr. M Lloyd, Subject Leader for History (pictured), said: “It has been wonderful to receive these postcards. I have always loved the job that I do, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see that it makes a positive impact on our pupils.”

We are thrilled to share some exciting news about one of our staff members, Mrs C Naughton, Teacher of Design and Technology. Recently, Mrs Naughton attended a CPD course focused on Chinese food cooking. As part of the course, a competition was held, drawing participants from all over England to compete for a spot in the grand final next May.
We are incredibly proud to announce that Mrs. Naughton has secured a place for her group in the grand final!
During the competition, participants were tasked with creating a beef stir-fry and demonstrating their skills in pleating dim sum dumplings—all within a challenging one-hour timeframe. The judges assessed contestants on their knife skills, the sensory qualities and presentation of the beef stir-fry, and the artistry of the dumplings’ presentation.
This course directly links to our GCSE Food and Cookery curriculum, aiming to inspire both our pupils and teachers to explore and experiment with Chinese cooking, while appreciating the rich diversity and unique flavours of Chinese cuisine from different regions.
The grand prize for the final competition is an exciting trip for three teachers to Hong Kong in August next year. We wish Mrs. Naughton the best of luck as she prepares for the grand final!
