Catering service survey

We are delighted to share some positive news about the recent developments in our school’s catering services, a result of the collaborative efforts between our Premises Committee and our new catering partner, ABM Catering.
Since the inception of our partnership with ABM Catering in September, we have witnessed positive changes and significant improvements in our school’s culinary offerings. The commitment to providing quality meals has been evident, and we are thrilled with the positive impact this has had on the school community.
Currently, our Premises Committee is diligently working on further enhancing the overall food experience. To ensure that we are meeting the preferences and expectations of our pupils and parents, we are conducting a Customer Satisfaction Survey.
Your insights will play a crucial role in influencing future menus and service enhancements. We kindly request your participation in this survey, and we’re eager to hear your thoughts on the dining experience. The survey has been sent to all parents via the MyChildAtSchool app and we would be grateful if it could be completed by 2nd February.
Additionally, our Premises Committee representatives will be present in the Pizza Hub during lunchtimes throughout this week to conduct in-person surveys. We encourage pupils to take advantage of this opportunity to express their thoughts and preferences directly.
We sincerely appreciate your support.

Celebrating the kindness of our pupils

We have had the pleasure of receiving the loveliest phone call from a member of our community. She had an inspiring story to share about two exceptional Year 8 pupils, James and Jacob (pictured here), who went above and beyond to make a positive impact.
As James and Jacob were riding home on their scooters, they noticed her struggling with shopping bags. Without hesitation, these remarkable young gentlemen turned back to offer a helping hand. They insisted on carrying her shopping bags and walking her all the way home safely. She described feeling cold, breathless, and tired after missing her bus, and the boys showed remarkable patience, ensuring she reached her doorstep with care.
In her own words, she expressed, “If these boys are our future, I am heartened to know that life in this world will be good.” She often has positive interactions with our pupils as she walks past, and she credits them as a true reflection of the values we hold dear at Chase Terrace Academy.
The maturity and kindness displayed by James and Jacob were nothing short of exceptional. The lady who experienced their act of kindness wanted to ensure they were recognised, and we, too, want to commend them for their outstanding compassion. In light of this, James and Jacob were nominated for this weeks ‘Feel Good Friday.’ They had the honour of meeting with our Headteacher, Ms. N Mason, to discuss their kind efforts.
Ms. N Mason shared, “This is a shining example of our school values in action, particularly the value of respect. It’s so lovely to hear positive feedback from a member of the public about our pupils.”
Let’s take a moment to applaud James and Jacob for their selfless act and thank them for making a difference in our community. Their actions remind us all that even small gestures can have a big impact.

Year 11 Mock Exam Preparation
The English department is delighted to report an overwhelming turnout at this week’s intervention sessions, reflecting the commitment of our pupils to excel in their studies. We even had to open an additional classroom to accommodate all of those who attended!

These intervention sessions were held for Year 11 pupils who all displayed dedication and commitment as they eagerly prepare for their upcoming mock exams, commencing on the 19th of February. These mock exams represent a crucial milestone in their academic journey, serving as the final rehearsal before the impending GCSE Exams later this year.
The focus of this week’s intervention sessions was on Macbeth, a key text for their upcoming GCSE Exams.
Miss H Pickerill, English teacher, expressed her excitement, saying: “It is truly fantastic to see our pupils engaging with their English studies and taking the initiative to attend intervention sessions. The overwhelming attendance reflects their commitment to success. I hope they continue their hard work and dedication, as I am confident that their efforts will undoubtedly pay off. Approaching the upcoming exams with maturity and tenacity is key, and I am proud to see our pupils demonstrating these qualities.”
We applaud our pupils for their proactive approach to academic excellence and extend our gratitude to the English department for fostering an environment that encourages such commitment.

House Assemblies Update
This week marked the exciting launch of our first House assemblies of 2024. Pupils attended in their respective Houses – Brocket, Elk, Fallow, and Sika – to celebrate achievements, learn about our new rewards system, and foster a sense of community.
The results of our current House Points standings were also shared. After half term and the first week of the Spring Term, Fallow is leading the charge with an impressive 13,121 House Points, closely followed by Brocket with 12,925, Sika with 12,813, and Elk with 11,707. Together, we’ve awarded over 50,000 House Points this academic year – an outstanding 3,160 per week!
In honour of LGBTQ+ History Month in February, our first House Event invites pupils to create celebration bunting as form groups, exemplifying our school value of respect. This initiative not only fosters creativity but also provides an opportunity to bridge the gap between Houses, with five House Points up for grabs for each member of the winning form per year group.
Our assemblies centred around the theme of community, emphasising that each House is a collaborative team. An informative video was played, which showcased the significance of community, reinforcing the strong bonds within our school. From the coloured ties representing Houses to the commendable efforts of our ‘CTA Wombles’ who frequently litter-pick in our community, interform competitions, and sports days – Chase Terrace Academy truly embodies the essence of community within the Houses.

Pictured here are Androniki, Lucie, Fin and Charlie, who are amongst the top House-Point earners for their House! They consistently represent the school values and are excellent role models for the wider school community.
As we continue into the Spring Term, we encourage every pupil to keep earning those valuable house points. Aim high, as the winning House at the end of the year will be celebrated in style during our rewards celebrations!
Let’s continue the spirit of tenacity, collaboration, and respect as we journey through the academic year together.

Exciting Announcement for Year 10!
We are thrilled to announce a new addition to our pastoral team. Please join us in welcoming our new Head of Year 10, Miss G Clarke!

Miss Clarke joined us in September as an English and Drama teacher and has now embraced the role of leading our fantastic Year 10 cohort, replacing Miss R Clenton who sadly left Chase Terrace Academy at the end of the Autumn term.
Mrs. S Pickin will continue to be our Year 10 Student Support Officer – to assist pupils’ day to day to make progress and provide advice, guidance and support. In light of Miss Clarke’s new responsibilities, her previous form group, 7N, will now have their personal development lessons with Mr E Reinikovas.
Miss Clarke shared her thoughts on her new role: “I am delighted to be appointed as the Head of Year 10. They are a fantastic year group, and I am looking forward to working closely with Mrs Pickin. Year 10 is a pivotal year for our pupils, and I am excited about supporting them through the study of their GCSEs ahead of their examinations next academic year. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if there are any issues, but equally, if you have some positive news that you wish to share with us.”
Let’s give a warm welcome to Miss Clarke and Mr Reinikovas as they take on these important roles. We’re confident that their dedication and passion will contribute to the success and well-being of our pupils.
