Chase Terrace Academy pupils from Year 8 have been taking in the breath-taking scenery of the Rhine Valley this week on the German Language Trip. During the first day, pupils had the opportunity to explore the town of Koblenz and witness the meeting of the rivers Rhine and Mosel at Deutsches Eck. The group have been making the most of the area surrounding the hotel; Boppard is a traditional German Town with many shops and culture to experience.
The second day began by visiting the gothic castle at Cochem, which has been restored to allow visitors to learn about its rich history. This was followed by a visit to the nearby Moselbad, where pupils enjoyed the waterslides and wave-pool in the picturesque surroundings of the Mosel Valley.
The group have excelled in applying their German language skills throughout the trip to purchase items from shops and in particular during meal times at the hotel. The hotel owners have been complementary about their exemplary conduct and their readiness to converse with them in German.
Ms C Horton, MFL Teacher and organiser of the trip said “the group are shining example of the positive and supportive attitude that we expect of Chase Terrace pupils. We have been immensely proud to see our pupils appreciate the value of their tenacity and hard work in school by applying their language skills in a real-life context and consistently conducting themselves in a way that reflects positively on themselves and the school.”
We look forward to continuing the trip, with visits to the town of Rudesheim and Phantasialand theme park.
