As we gear up for International Women’s Day on Friday, March 8th, our assemblies this week have been focusing on this year’s theme of #InspireInclusion.
During the assembly, Miss L Roach delved into the significance of International Women’s Day and why it’s crucial in our ongoing journey towards gender equality and the eradication of discrimination. We discussed the progress made thus far, with women and men joining forces to advocate for change. While opportunities for women in Britain have significantly expanded, there’s still much work to be done to ensure true equality for all.
Furthermore, our assembly explored the concept of inclusion and its importance within our school community. We shared examples of how inclusion can be demonstrated daily, from simple acts of kindness, to using positive language and standing up against exclusion.
The impact of inclusion was illustrated with the example of 1500 new women’s football teams registered after the England Lionesses’ triumph in the Euro 2022. Miss L Roach emphasised, ” At Chase Terrace Academy we need to work tenaciously to ensure all girls and women are respected members of the community. By ensuring we all work to promote inclusion for all, girls and women can aspire to be their very best.”
Let’s continue to champion inclusion and equality, not just on International Women’s Day, but every day. Together, we can create a more inclusive and equitable future for all.
