Our Year 11 pupils have been completing a required practical on enzymes, investigating the action of amylase on starch and the role of pH in affecting reaction rates.
They meticulously varied pH levels to uncover the optimal conditions for this enzymatic reaction, gaining invaluable insights into the importance of environmental factors in biochemical processes.
Once they had finished their practical, they evaluated their method’s strengths and limitations. This critical analysis not only deepened their understanding but also equipped them with the skills necessary to tackle examination questions in this area ahead of their first Biology exam on the 10th May.
Keep up the good work Year 11!
