In Year 9 Art, Miss Blackham’s groups have been exploring the work of contemporary textile artist Jose Romussi through creative production of Artist analysis pages and practical embroidery samples! With a theme of ‘duality and hidden meaning’ the pupils have been considering how art can be used as a vehicle to look like one thing but can also mean another. Through cross curricular experiments pupils have been combining their textile and art skills in preparation for an A3 celebrity mixed media portraiture piece they will begin next half term. We are incredibly impressed with their contextual understanding and their embroidery handy work – impressive work Y9!
