This week, our Year 12 historians visited the National Memorial Arboretum as part of a hands-on research project.

They chose to focus their research on the history and memorialisation of the fallen victims of the Twin Towers 9/11 Attacks and will be presenting their research to judges in November with other history students in the John Taylor Multi Academy Trust.

Our CTA students chose to specialise on the Twin Towers, as part of the quadranscentennial commemorations 25 years on from the attack, and met with a specialist who led a walking workshop of the site to discuss research methodology and the process of memorialisation and commemoration.

Students visited the Twin Towers Memorial, the Fire & Rescue Services Memorial and the Service Dogs Memorial – as well as sites that commemorated wider historic conflicts such as World War I and World War II.

The sixth form students represented the school incredibly well and have already begun discussing how to present their findings ready for November for their competition with JTMAT. We wish them all the luck in the world for their presentations.
