CTA Pupils receive £1000 Award!

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that two of our outstanding Sixth Form pupils, Daniel and Scarlett, have been honoured with the prestigious Burntwood Town Council Student Award, a tribute to the remarkable Stephen Sutton MBE.

This award, started in 2015 to honour Stephen’s legacy, was reintroduced in 2023 after a temporary pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic and aims to give young people aged 11-19 a practical helping hand to encourage them to achieve greater heights. Two annual awards of £1000 each were up for grabs, and we are proud to announce that both Dan and Scarlett were chosen for their exceptional talents.

Daniel, Year 13, has been presented this award to contribute to purchasing equipment and repairs for his Powerchair Football Team. His passion for football extends beyond the field, as he aspires to pursue a career in football journalism. Dan shared his long-term goals with Cllr Kathy Coe MBE and Cllr Paul Taylor during their visit to Chase Terrace Academy, leaving them extremely impressed with his aspirations and dedication.

Scarlett, also in Year 12, has been recognised for her outstanding artwork. She showcased her passion for art and presented examples of her current projects to the councillors. Scarlett plans to use the award money to purchase new art supplies, including her favourite graphite pencils. Moreover, she has been invited to create artwork for the newly purchased Community building that the Burntwood Town Council hopes to open soon, making her the first artist to be featured after the renovation!

We are immensely proud of Dan and Scarlett for their achievements, and we extend our gratitude to Cllr Kathy Coe MBE and Cllr Paul Taylor for visiting us to celebrate their success. Let’s continue to support and encourage the incredible talents within our school community!

End of Term Arrangements

As we approach the upcoming break, we want to share some important information about our final day of term.

We will be breaking up for our Christmas break at 12:10pm on Friday, December 22nd. Please note that all pupils are required to be registered in P3 for accurate attendance recording, which will be the final register of the day.

For all eligible pupils receiving Free School Meals, a food option will be available for collection from the dining hall between 12:10pm and 12:25pm.

To spread some holiday cheer on the last day of term and to support two fantastic causes – the Teenage Cancer Trust and our Pupil Leadership Team – we invite everyone to participate in a non-uniform day! We encourage all pupils to wear their most festive Christmas jumpers. Donations are a minimum of £1 and are now open on the MyChildAtSchool app.

Your generosity will make a meaningful impact on the lives of others during this special time of year. Let’s come together as a school community to make a difference and celebrate the joy of giving.

Rewarding 7M for their success!

We’re thrilled to share some exciting news from Form 7M! This past Friday, our fantastic pupils enjoyed a well-deserved rewards afternoon filled with delicious Domino’s pizza and the classic festive film, Home Alone!

The pupils in this form were rewarded as they worked together to achieve the incredible feat of earning absolutely zero late marks throughout the entire H82BL8 campaign! This campaign aimed to reduce late marks across the school, and the efforts of 7M truly stood out.

Mrs. S Southwell, Head of Year 7, shared her thoughts on this remarkable achievement: “I am immensely proud of Form 7M for their dedication and responsibility in earning no late marks. Their commitment to punctuality has not only contributed to the success of our campaign but has also set a fantastic example for the entire school.”

A big shoutout to each pupil in 7M for their fantastic achievement! We hope you enjoyed the rewards afternoon, and here’s to many more successes ahead.

Check out the delectable delights that await your child below when they visit the cake sale at break and lunchtime outside of the dining hall this Thursday. Let’s make this holiday season extra special by spreading joy and giving back.

Our Winter Showcase is here!

A reminder that our annual Winter Showcase will be taking place tomorrow, 19th December, 6-7:30pm! Join us for an evening of mesmerising performances featuring the incredible talents of our Music and Drama pupils from across the school.

We’re also excited to announce a special highlight for this year’s showcase! For the first time ever, some of our esteemed Performing Arts Alumni pupils will be returning to share the stage with our current pupils. These Alumni are busy professionals, and their presence on our stage is truly a rare and delightful treat for everyone.

Tickets are priced at £4 and can be purchased via the MyChildatSchool App.

Respect for local residents

As we approach the final week of this autumn term, we would like to express our gratitude for the continuous support and cooperation from our school community.

A gentle reminder as we navigate the hustle and bustle of drop-offs and pick-ups, please keep in mind the well-being of our local neighbours, especially those residing in areas like Lulworth Road and Oakdene Road.

We encourage pupils to consider walking or biking to school whenever feasible. Additionally, we kindly ask parents not to use the school car park for routine drop-offs or to deliver forgotten items.

For instances when drop-off’s are unavoidable, we sincerely ask for your cooperation in being respectful and considerate towards our local residents. This includes following all traffic regulations and avoiding any actions that may inconvenience or endanger those in our community.

The school car park is designated for specific purposes, such as collecting a pupil from first aid, attending pre-arranged meetings with staff, picking up a pupil for a daytime appointment, and for those with blue badges. Your adherence to these guidelines ensures safety for everyone involved.

Remember, a small act of kindness goes a long way. Let’s continue to foster a warm and supportive atmosphere within our school community.

FESTIVAL FOODBANK EVENT – THURSDAY, 21ST DECEMBER

As the festive season approaches, we understand that Christmas can be a challenging time for some of our families. In the spirit of giving and togetherness, we would like to announce our Festival Foodbank event on Thursday, 21st December, 3:30-5:30pm!

Join us for an evening filled with Christmas joy, where we aim to ensure that all our families feel supported and cared for during this special time of year.

– Coats for the winter weather

– School uniform assistance

– PE kit provisions

We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the House of Bread and Midlands Portable Buildings for their ongoing support. They have each generously donated 30 crates of food to be made into parcels over the Christmas period.

Free Holiday Activities

We want to ensure that all our pupils have a joyful and active holiday season! Staffordshire County Council and the Department for Education are offering fantastic free holiday activities and food through their schemes. Take a look at the image below to discover the exciting sports opportunities available.

These activities are open to all young people, with those on benefits related to free school meals being able to access a hot meal. Please note that this initiative is organised by an external agency and not directly by our school.

‘Engineering Discovery’ Sessions

We are thrilled to share the success of our recent event as part of the Raising Aspirations and Careers Programme. Today, we had the privilege of hosting ‘The Inspirational Learning Group’ for a series of engaging and informative sessions.

Every Year 9 pupil participated in a one-hour ‘Engineering Discovery’ session held in the Lees Hall. These sessions were designed to provide a unique opportunity for our pupils to explore and gain insights into careers in engineering, expanding their awareness beyond the regular school curriculum.

The activities were both creative and hands-on, encouraging pupils to use and develop essential skills such as communication and teamwork—vital qualities for their future endeavours in the world of work. We believe that these experiences are crucial for fostering employability skills and preparing our pupils for success in their future careers.

We are pleased to announce that ‘The Inspirational Learning Group’ will be returning for additional sessions on Friday, February 23rd, providing further opportunities for our pupils to enhance their skills and aspirations.

Miss J Devereux, Assistant Headteacher, shared her enthusiasm, stating, “This has been a fantastic opportunity for our pupils, opening doors to new possibilities and expanding their aspirations. The informative sessions provided by The Inspirational Learning Group were truly valuable. A big thank you to the Learning Group for such a fantastic day—our pupils really enjoyed it!”
