Coming to England Theatre Trip

Our pupils had a wonderful time at the Garrick Theatre watching Coming to England, a play adapted by David Wood from the book by Floella Benjamin. The performance tells the story of Floella’s own journey from Trinidad to England, portraying how young Floella worked tirelessly, ultimately becoming Baroness Benjamin of Beckenham. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with many pupils describing the show as ‘fantastic’!

Join us for the first Parent Forum of the…

We’re excited to invite all parents/carers and members of our community to our first Parent Forum on Thursday 10th October from 5pm-6pm.

At this meeting, we’ll be introducing our new Parent, Teachers, and Friends Association (PTFA), which aims to bring everyone in our school community together to fundraise, plan, and deliver exciting events throughout the year.

The PTFA will meet just once per half term, so it’s a great way to get involved without a big-time commitment.

Year 12 Partnership Evening

We invite all Year 12 parents/carers to join us for our Partnership Evening on Thursday 10th October from 6:00pm to 7:40pm. We’ll start with a brief presentation in Lees Hall, followed by breakout sessions for you and your child.

The event is designed to provide essential information on the transition from Year 11 into Sixth Form, as well as advice on post-18 options such as university and apprenticeship pathways.

Our talented Year 12 photography pupils are already excelling in their course! Recently, they’ve been diving into lighting setups and learning how photographers respond to different scenarios. In their latest lessons, they’ve been experimenting with shutter speed to capture stunning explosions of ink, inspired by the style of Alberto Seveso.

Black History Month

The month of October marks Black History Month. This year’s theme, ‘Reclaiming Narratives’, is a powerful call to action for Black communities across the UK to become storytellers, historians, and custodians of their rich heritage. Learning by doing!

In recent Year 10 science lessons with Mrs Fenney, pupils have been engaging in heart dissections as part of their biology curriculum. This hands-on activity provides a valuable opportunity for pupils to explore the structure and function of the heart up close. By examining both the internal and external components, pupils gain a deeper understanding of how the heart works and its essential role in the human body.
