National Eating Disorders Awareness Week

This week, Mr Brotherton and Mrs Darby led assemblies focused on positive body image as part of National Eating Disorders Awareness Week. By educating our school community about eating disorders, we emphasise the importance of looking out for one another and recognising the signs. 

Pupils learned about the support available both in school and externally, as well as the power of mindful language and the reality behind social media filters and editing. Mr Brotherton also highlighted the impact of male mental health and eating disorders, noting that 3 in 10 men over 18 have felt anxiety due to body image concerns, with the most common onset of eating disorders occurring between ages 12 and 25 for young people.

Taking aspirations to new heights!

We were thrilled to welcome Jodie, a former Chase Terrace Academy pupil, back to school to share her journey in the travel and tourism industry with TUI!

A selected group of pupils, who expressed interest in this field through their aspiration surveys, had the fantastic opportunity to hear Jodie’s insights, experiences, and advice on building a career in this industry.

Tickets on sale for CTA Theatre Company performance!

Our CTA Theatre Company have been working hard in rehearsals to bring Pandemexplosion, a brand-new verbatim play by Mark Wheeller, to the stage. 

This production explores resilience and tragedy during the pandemic, weaving together real-life stories – from a Top Boy actor and a rapper to pupils, scientists, and activists – all connected by the impact of COVID-19. 

This preview will be performed at the Ignite Festival at the Lichfield Garrick Theatre on Wednesday, 19th March!

Half-termly parent/carer survey

Thank you to all parents/carers who have completed our half termly survey, which aims to gather your thoughts on your child(ren)’s learning experience at CTA. Your responses continue to help us understand what’s working well and where we can improve.

We kindly request that, if you have not done so already, you take a few moments to complete this survey, which has been communicated to parents/carers via the MyChildAtSchool app.

Pupils have also had the opportunity to complete the survey during Personal Development lessons, encouraging them to share their perspectives and contribute to our improvement efforts.

Memorial Garden Improvements

Over the February half-term, we have been refreshing our Memorial Garden to create a more inviting space for our school community to enjoy during the warmer months. The area has been pressure washed, tidied, and old furniture replaced with new garden seating.

To help bring this space to life, we would appreciate any donations of low-maintenance plants including:

– Lavender

– Various Herbs

– Iris, Salvia, Verbena, Rudbeckia

– Bulbs & Bedding Plants for baskets and pots

– Patio Pots (ceramic or plastic)

‘We See You’ rewards!

Today, we proudly celebrated our KS3 and KS4 pupils who consistently embody our school values, maintain 0 negative behaviour points, and go above and beyond without seeking recognition. 

As a well-deserved reward, these pupils enjoyed pastries and games in the library with their Head of Year and Student Support Officer.

The ‘We See You’ award, presented by our Progress Teams, is a special acknowledgment for those who quietly lead with integrity, kindness, and dedication. These pupils may not always seek the spotlight, but their actions speak volumes, inspiring those around them and making our school a better place.

To all our recipients: Your efforts do not go unnoticed. You set an inspiring example for your peers, and we are incredibly proud of you! Thank you for representing CTA’s values so brilliantly— congratulations on your achievement!
