Our Commitment to the Anti-Bullying Pledge

Over the summer break, we have made some fantastic updates to our school, including the installation of new wall vinyls throughout our main building.

Pictured here is our Anti-Bullying Wall, featuring the signatures of our pupils and staff who signed the anti-bullying pledge last academic year. This symbol represents our united commitment to:

• Treat all members of the CTA community with respect.

• Include those who feel left out.

• Stand against unkindness in all forms.

• Refuse to bully or participate in bullying.

• Aspire to create a welcoming, inclusive environment.

Together, we continue our mission to ‘promote kindness, always,’ building a safer, more supportive community for everyone at Chase Terrace Academy.

Burntwood Town Council’s Student Award

We are excited to share that the Burntwood Town Council’s Student Award in memory of Stephen Sutton has reopened for applications!

In 2015, Burntwood Town Council launched this award to celebrate the life and achievements of Stephen Sutton MBE by supporting young people with aspirations and talents within our town. This year, the award is once again open for applications, and we are thrilled to encourage our pupils to apply.

The Student Award offers £1,000 to one pupil living in Burntwood to support them in developing their talents. Whether it’s sports, art, academia, or music, the award can be used to help fund equipment, coaching, tuition, competition fees, or travel, giving the recipient a practical helping hand to reach their goals.

Last year, two of our pupils, Scarlett and Daniel, were honoured with this award, and we are so proud of their achievements. Don’t miss out on your chance to apply!

Join Us for the UK’s Biggest Coffee Morning!

We’re excited to announce that we will be joining the UK’s biggest coffee morning in support of Macmillan Cancer Support! On Friday, 27th September, from 9:30 to 11:30, our school will be hosting a special event, and we invite everyone from our local community to come along.

Join us for coffee, delicious cakes, and a range of fun-filled activities, all in the name of raising funds for this fantastic cause. It’s a great opportunity to come together, make a difference, and show our support for those affected by cancer.

Toilet refurbishment update

We have been so pleased to welcome everyone back to school this week, particularly for pupils to see the progress that we have made with our toilet refurbishment project over the Summer. This was an investment of £350,000 and our main site improvement project this year and we are delighted with the results!

The project has included the renovation of all toilet rooms across the main school building, providing pupils with separate male and female facilities. We also have some designated inclusive toilets for everyone to use if they wish.

The feedback from pupils and staff has been very positive, particularly in relation to the open plan layout which improves safeguarding and supervision arrangements. Each cubicle is now floor-to-ceiling, ensuring maximum privacy and inclusivity for everyone.

Mrs S Morgan, Business Manager who has been involved in the project, said: “It has been a pleasure to work closely with pupils throughout the project and see their ideas and contributions come alive. I would like to extend special thanks to Mr Cooper, Premises Manager and RA Edwards for their relentless efforts and hard work throughout the renovation.”

George, Year 13 pupil and member of the Pupil Leadership Facilities Committee said: “I have really enjoyed being part of the project, which is what the school has needed for a while. The toilets are clean, modern and due to the floor to ceiling cubicles, they are really private and safe to use.”

The project will continue to the end of September with the completion of two additional toilet rooms. We sincerely hope our pupils appreciate the improvements and recognise that their feedback has been integral to these upgrades. Thank you for your continued support as we strive to create a safe and welcoming environment for all!

It’s the first Thankful Thursday of the academic year!

We are excited to kick off the new academic year by celebrating our pupils’ dedication and hard work! We are thrilled to celebrate our pupils for a Thankful Thursday, in which pupils are celebrated by meeting with a member of our Senior Leadership Team.

Miss J. Devereux, our Assistant Headteacher, met with Ellie, Elizabeth, Millie, Mason, and Samuel to celebrate their fantastic efforts in completing the transition work packs for English, Maths, and Science on Show My Homework.

A special shoutout to Millie and Samuel, who tackled a science activity to create a structure that protected an egg from breaking – Sam even tested his by dropping it from an upstairs window!

Miss Devereux shared: “It’s heartwarming to see pupils engage with the optional holiday tasks. I loved receiving their emails about the work and how they linked it to their holiday activities like theatre and museum visits. Well done to everyone involved! Welcome Back to Our Sixth Form pupils!

It’s been fantastic to welcome back some of our former Year 11 pupils as they begin their journey in Year 12 as Sixth Form members. We’re excited to see how they progress and excel in their A-Level studies.

Welcome Back to the 2024-25 Academic Year!

We have thoroughly enjoyed welcoming our pupils back to school for the start of the new academic year! It was a great to see all pupils greeted by staff at the school gates before meeting with their Personal Development Tutors to begin this year’s Personal Development programme.

A special shoutout to our new Year 7 cohort! They should be exceptionally proud of their achievements today. Impeccably dressed and respectful, they made a fantastic first impression. Throughout this morning they have enjoyed icebreaker activities, an assembly, and a tour of the school—making it a day to remember!

Year 10 and 11 pupils have also shown great enthusiasm as they return to commence and continue their KS4 learning journey, diving into the subjects they’ve selected for their GCSE and BTEC portfolio.

School Year 2024/2025 Return Arrangements

We hope our families have had a wonderful summer break. As we approach the start of the new academic year, we would like to share our return-to-school arrangements.

All pupils will return to school on Wednesday, 4th September 2024 and should access the school grounds via the pupil entrance on Bridge Cross Road only. Please be aware that, for safety and safeguarding reasons, the back gate on Lulworth Road will no longer be in use before school. Pupils will still be able to exit the site using this gate at the end of the school day.

We will be having a staggered start to ensure a smooth transition:

– Our new Year 7 pupils are expected to arrive at 8:30 am. They will be collected by a member of staff at the school gate and escorted to the Year 7 courtyard. All Year 7 Personal Development tutors will then gather their pupils and take them to their Personal Development (form) rooms. Timetables will be issued, uniform checks explained, and the morning will include icebreaker activities, a tour of the school, and an assembly.

– Pupils in all other year groups are expected to arrive at 9:30 am. They should proceed to their Personal Development room to receive their timetable and attend an assembly. Breaktime will follow as normal, with the usual lessons and school structure resuming thereafter.

Year 12 pupils are expected to arrive for 8:30am and Year 13 pupils are expected to arrive for 9:30am. Pupils should report to the Sixth Form study room upon their arrival.

We look forward to seeing all of our pupils and embarking on another fantastic school year together!

GCSE Results Day 2024

As GCSE results are released and Year 11 pupils across the country open their envelopes, it’s important to remember that academic achievements are just one aspect of who we are as individuals. Success means different things to different people, and today is about celebrating each pupil’s unique journey.

At Chase Terrace Academy, we couldn’t be prouder of our Year 11 cohort. They have demonstrated exceptional commitment and focus throughout their time with us, growing into outstanding representatives of both our school and the wider community. Despite reports of lower grades nationally, our pupils have much to celebrate, and we share their excitement about the incredible opportunities these results have unlocked for their future studies.

We’re particularly thrilled that so many of our Year 11 pupils will be continuing their education with us in the Sixth Form. We also wish every single one of our pupils the very best in whatever path they choose to pursue next.

While we’re celebrating the achievements of all our pupils, we’d like to give special recognition to Archie, who achieved an incredible nine grade 9’s – the highest grade possible in every course that he studied. Archie will be returning to Chase Terrace Academy in September to study Maths, Chemistry and Physics at A-Level. When receiving his results, Archie shared: “After a difficult couple of years, I would like to say thank you so much to the school for all of their support in helping me achieve these results. It shows that hard work pays off!”

On behalf of our pupils, we extend a heartfelt thank you to our staff for their unwavering support in helping pupils reach their goals.

Headteacher, Ms. N Mason, said: “I am incredibly proud of all our pupils who have worked so hard to achieve such fantastic results. We are looking forward to seeing them return in September to join our Sixth Form, and I wish all pupils going on to join colleges or apprenticeships all the best in their future. Support for Exam Results

We are looking forward to welcoming our pupils and celebrating their successes on the upcoming GCSE results day this Thursday, however, we also understand that the wait for collecting exam results can be a worrying and stressful time. Our team at CTA is here to support all pupils. You can always reach out to a member of staff for any assistance or guidance.

Additionally, we’d like to share a useful resource for further support during this period. Childline offers a dedicated page with valuable advice and support for pupils awaiting their results and for any worries after collecting them. You can find it here.
