Since the actual date falls during our half-term break, we’ve decided to kick off the festivities a little early on Thursday, 8th February.

Pupils can grab a delicious meal deal for just £2.35, including a choice of main course, one side, and a beverage!

NSCG Apprenticeship Bus visits CTA!

Today marked an exciting opportunity for our Year 11 pupils as we welcomed the NSCG Apprenticeship Bus in celebration of National Apprenticeship Week. The visit provided valuable insights into the world of apprenticeships, offering our pupils a glimpse into the future-ready skills they can acquire through this path.

Our pupils engaged with current apprentices, gaining firsthand knowledge and inspiration for their own journey. The NSCG Apprenticeship Hub team was on-site, guiding them through the elements of a successful apprenticeship application and addressing any queries they had.

Following the insightful tour, our pupils participated in apprenticeship-themed activities, including a quiz. Miss J Devereux, Assistant Headteacher, said, “”Preparing for an apprenticeship is an investment in your future. The diverse opportunities available through apprenticeships open doors to a world of possibilities, ensuring our pupils are well-equipped for success.”

Celebrating National Apprenticeships Week at CTA!

To mark the beginning of National Apprenticeships Week, Miss J Devereux, Assistant Headteacher, planned a fun lunchtime activity with the aim of myth-busting facts about apprenticeships.

Our enthusiastic pupils engaged in a game of cups, where they tossed the ball into a cup to progress to the next round. The excitement didn’t stop there – after successfully completing the game, they faced true or false questions about apprenticeships with a sweet given for each correct answer.

This innovative approach not only added a touch of fun to their lunch break but also empowered our pupils with valuable insights into apprenticeships.

US Girls Community Drop-In

We are excited to share a fantastic opportunity for our young adults in Burntwood! The US Girls Community Drop-In takes place weekly from 4-5pm at St. John’s Church, Chase Terrace.

Led by our inspiring US Girls Ambassadors, who recently conducted a successful taster session at CTA, these sessions provide a safe and inclusive space for young adults to be active and upskill themselves.

CATCH Hub

A friendly reminder to all of our parents that our CATCH Hub is available to support you.

On Thursday, 8th February 3-4pm, our dedicated team of Sixth Form volunteers will be on hand to assist you with collecting essential items such as food parcels, uniforms, slow cookers, and winter coats—all provided free of charge to support our school community.

Macramé Club

Our talented pupils have been weaving creativity and fun in Macramé Club!

Jack (pictured) deserves a special shout-out for being the first to complete his fantastic phone bag! Also pictured is Miah and Imogen, fully engaged in their latest macramé masterpieces!

Macramé Club is open to all pupils every Thursday lunchtime and provides pupils with a wonderful opportunity for an extracurricular activity, promoting wellbeing and offering a chance to relax between lessons. It’s no surprise that this club is incredibly popular among our pupils!

Options Evening for Year 9 Parents and Pupils!

We are excited to invite you to our Options Evening on Monday, 5th February at 5pm. This event is designed to provide crucial information about the options process for the upcoming academic year.

During the evening, our staff will guide you and your child through the options process. The session will commence with a brief presentation at 5pm explaining the process, followed by an opportunity to engage with subject leads who will provide insights into their respective courses.

In addition, your child will attend daily assemblies from subject heads during the week commencing 5th February.

Your child will receive the options form on Thursday, 8th February 2024, via their school email. Please ensure that their proposed choices are submitted by Friday, 23rd February.

For your convenience, there will be short interviews with a senior staff member to discuss and clarify your child’s choices. These interviews, scheduled between 4th March and 18th March, are open for your attendance.

Once all interviews are complete, the timetable will be constructed, and your child will be notified of their final options in the summer term.

It’s important to note that, while we strive to accommodate all first choices, some courses have limited capacity. During the information evening, we will elaborate on the possibility of receiving reserve options.

Year 10 Mock Interviews – National Apprenticeship Week 2024

We are excited to announce that all Year 10 pupils will be participating in mock interviews next Tuesday, the 6th of February, as part of ‘National Apprenticeship Week 2024.’ This invaluable experience will provide pupils with an opportunity to engage in mock interviews with real employers, enhancing their interview skills and preparing them for future career endeavours.

In preparation for these interviews, pupils will be completing practice interview questions during their personal development sessions. Additionally, to ensure a successful and insightful experience, we encourage pupils to utilise the following resources:

1. My World of Work

2. Barclays LifeSkills – Virtual Interview

3. UCAS – How to Prepare for an Interview

4. Prospects – Interview Tips

Pupils will receive support from their Form Tutors in the preparation process, but any additional help, research, or advice from home would greatly enhance their readiness for the interviews.

Pupil will be individually notified about the timing and location of their mock interviews. Please encourage them to actively participate in this valuable opportunity.

Exciting Update from Our Duke of Edinburgh Groups!

We are thrilled to share the incredible accomplishments of our Duke of Edinburgh groups! Over the past few weekends, they demonstrated exceptional navigational skills during rigorous training days, highlighting their resilience and dedication to personal development.

The past two weekends have been busy for the CTA DofE unit, starting with a Map & Compass training day for our newly recruited Bronze pupils. This was followed by a second weekend of Map & Compass refreshment with our Silver pupils. A warm welcome to Ben, Y10, a direct entrant to Silver, who showcased impressive skills. Yanto, Y10 also discovered a ‘Smile Rock’ and, in the true spirit of CTA Community, re-hid it for someone else to find.

Mrs S Pickin, Duke of Edinburgh Lead, expressed her admiration for the endurance displayed by these remarkable pupils. “In the face of challenges, our pupils have exemplified true determination and grit. Their commitment to the Duke of Edinburgh program is a testament to their character and resilience,” she remarked.

After these two weekends, all the leaders at CTA are eagerly looking forward to the upcoming season of expeditions. Let the adventures continue!

We are also excited to announce that our pupils have been honoured with certificates from the Duke of Edinburgh Award. This recognition reflects an impressive 858 hours dedicated to the physical section between April 1, 2022, and March 31, 2023.
