A Christmas Carol Theatre Trip

Our Year 10 pupils recently enjoyed an trip to the Repertory Theatre in Birmingham to watch A Christmas Carol.

Miss H Pickerill, Head of English, shared: “It was a very accurate and immersive experience which brought life to the book, and even the supernatural elements made us jump! The children were impeccably behaved and thoroughly enjoyed it.”

This fantastic outing directly supports our English curriculum, as A Christmas Carol is a key GCSE text for our pupils next academic year. A wonderful way to bring learning to life!

Tom Palmer Inspires Our Year 7 & 8 Pupils!

We were thrilled to welcome author Tom Palmer to our school! Tom hosted engaging workshops for our Year 7 and 8 pupils, diving into his popular football series, historical fiction, and the art of creative writing.

Mrs J Dutton, Librarian, shared: “It was such a privilege to have Tom visit us and discuss his incredible book series, the fascinating ways he comes up with his ideas, and even share some historical artefacts with us. I was so impressed with the thoughtful questions our pupils asked Tom and hope they left feeling inspired. What a fantastic experience!”

Green Careers Week at CTA!

As part of our Green Careers Week focus, we were delighted to welcome Daniel Canavan, Director of The Spark Group, to speak with our Year 7 and 8 pupils.

Daniel shared his journey as an entrepreneur and introduced the wide range of career opportunities within The Spark Group.

He also shed light on the critical challenge of global warming and how The Spark Group is actively contributing to the UK’s goal of fully decarbonising electricity generation by 2035 and achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

A huge thank you to Daniel for taking the time to inspire our pupils and encourage them to consider green careers as a pathway to a sustainable future!

Annabel brings home the golden boot!

A huge congratulations to Annabel in Year 11, who recently represented England at the Women’s Amputee Football World Cup in Colombia!

Her team worked tirelessly to raise over £50,000 to make this incredible journey possible. While England’s run ended in the quarterfinals after a hard-fought match against the USA, Annabel’s outstanding performance earned her the prestigious ‘Golden Boot’ for scoring the most goals in the tournament!

Annabel, you are an inspiration to us all – both on and off the field. Well done!

Lichfield Cathedral Christmas Tree Festival!

We are thrilled to participate in the Christmas Tree Festival at Lichfield Cathedral! This event features around 50 beautifully decorated Christmas trees created by local businesses, charities, and schools.

Our talented pupils and Art department have worked incredibly hard over the past few weeks designing and creating beautiful decorations for our tree, and we couldn’t be prouder of their efforts. A special thanks to Mrs Heames-Read and Mrs Phillips for their fantastic work in decorating the tree.

If you’re visiting Lichfield during December, we’d love your support! Pop into the cathedral and vote for CTA as your favourite school tree. The festival runs from Saturday, 30th November to Sunday, 5th January, offering plenty of time to enjoy the festive display.

We’re excited to announce that the Scholastic Book Fair has been rescheduled to run from Thursday 5th December to Thursday 12th December! 

Payment Options: 

1. Cash on the day
2. Pupils can fill in a Wish List for items, which parents can pay for online. Items will be available for collection from the Library. 
3. Parents can purchase Book Fair gift vouchers directly from the Scholastic website: https://bookfairs.scholastic.co.uk/gift-vouchers

Pupils can enter our Design a Bookmark competition for a chance to win a £5 voucher to spend at the Book Fair. The deadline for entries is Thursday 5th December – so get creative!

Preparing for life beyond Sixth Form

Today, as part of our Drop-Down Day, Year 12 pupils have engaged in a series of practical workshops designed to equip them with essential life skills for the future.

Mr Giles, Head of Sixth Form, demonstrated how to prepare both nutritious and budget-friendly meals for under £3—perfect for university living.

Mr Lloyd, Assistant Head of Sixth Form, taught pupils vital car maintenance skills, including how to change a tyre.

Mr Cain, Deputy Headteacher, delivered a session on budgeting, planning, and managing personal finances.

These workshops are a valuable part of our commitment to preparing pupils for independent living and success after Sixth Form. Well done to all our pupils for their participation!
