As part of our whole-school Mental Health and Wellbeing Programme, our Year 8 pupils had the opportunity to take part in some hands-on gardening in our Memorial Garden during the recent Personal Development drop-down day. They filled hanging baskets, planters, and pots with beautiful flowers and helped tidy the area, creating a welcoming space for our school community to enjoy over the warmer months.
The pupils had a fantastic time, with one even saying they’d choose gardening over playing on their Xbox! Many have shared how much they enjoyed the experience, with some now taking up gardening at home.
A huge thank you to Mrs Gilbert, our gardening expert, along with Mrs Morgan, Mrs Dutton, Miss Weaving and Mr Edrop and of course our wonderful pupils for their hard work in making this project such a success! We were also joined by Miss Barker, a CTA alumni pupil, who will be raising money to continue to invest in the space. More details about her campaign will be shared soon, as she aims to give back to CTA in appreciation of the support she received as a student six years ago.
A special thank you also goes to Grasmere Garden Centre in Brownhills, and Wheat & Son Garden Centre, Aldridge, for generously donating plants and compost to facilitate this project.
