Open Mornings

Missed our Open Evening or want to see more? Our Open Mornings are just around the corner! Join us for a guided tour led by our Senior Leadership Team and get a first-hand look at life at Chase Terrace Academy.

Open morning tours will take place on:

• October 13th, 14th, 15th

• October 20th, 21st and 23rd

Tours will take place from 9:00am to 10:00am. Our team will be available to answer any questions and provide insights into our school community. Spaces are limited to ten guests per tour so don’t hesitate to book now!

Thank you for joining us!

It was fantastic to welcome so many prospective parents, carers, and pupils to our Open Evening last night and share everything that Chase Terrace Academy has to offer.

A huge thank you goes to our incredible Pupil Leadership team and wellbeing ambassadors who supported every department – from live dissections and fire experiments in science, to incredible Drama performances, medieval armour displays and a murder mystery in History, and fantastic Music performances – to name a few! Visitors also enjoyed First Aid demonstrations, delicious food samples from our catering team and engaging insights into our Careers provision and Forest School opportunities. We are incredibly proud of and thankful for the 100+ pupil volunteers from across all year groups who helped make the evening such a success.

JTMAT Exceptional Achievement Award

Nominations for the JTMAT Exceptional Achievement Award are now open until 4pm on Friday 21st November! This award is available to all pupils across the JTMAT Trust, and we have been delighted to celebrate the remarkable achievements of our pupils in previous ceremonies.

Secondary school pupils can be nominated based on the following criteria:

– National or international status in any activity (within the last 18 months)

– Grade 8 level/Diploma in music or singing

– Performing in a televised programme/film

– Fundraising over £5000 for charity

– Success in overcoming adversity

Parents, carers, staff, and peers can submit nominations through the online form sent out in the letter via the MyChildAtSchool App. Please provide a short paragraph (up to 250 words) detailing the reasons for the nomination.

Successful nominees will meet with Ms Mason, Headteacher, to receive a special pin badge award and a certificate. Additionally, pupils and their families will be invited to an online celebratory event at the end of each term with a senior colleague from John Taylor MAT.

We look forward to celebrating the exceptional achievements of our pupils!

Year 7 Football Victory!

We are incredibly proud of our Year 7 football team, who fought back from 1-0 down to secure an impressive 4-1 win against Netherstowe School last night! 

Their resilience and teamwork were truly outstanding. Next up, they face The Hart School away on Tuesday 14th October – we can’t wait to see them in action again!

Our Open Evening is tomorrow!

A reminder that our Open Evening is taking place tomorrow, 6pm – 8pm. We are so excited to welcome parents, carers, and prospective pupils to visit our school!

You will have the opportunity to take a walk around our learning environment and meet our wonderful staff and pupils who will be showcasing all that our school has to offer. Subject-specific demonstrations and activities will be taking place across the school to give you an idea of what secondary school life is like, whilst being able to see our fantastic site and facilities! Senior leaders will lead a presentation and will be available to speak with families and answer any questions.

We ask that parents/carers book an arrival time to support us in making arrangements for the evening and to cater for all guests. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to book their preferred arrival time via this link.

Doors open at 6pm to explore our classrooms, specialist facilities, and unique learning spaces. Book your arrival time via the QR code. Last entry is 7:15pm, giving you plenty of time to experience everything our school has to offer.

Open mornings will also be made available for families to book and visit during the school day, following our Open Evening. Please keep an eye on our school website, Facebook and Instagram pages where further information will be released.

*Please note that the school day will end for all current pupils at 13:20pm ahead of our Open Evening commencing at 6pm. A grab bag will be available to collect from our dining hall at 13:30pm for all pupils who are eligible for free school meals.

Year 7 Tutor Evening

We’re looking forward to welcoming our Year 7 parents/carers to our school for our Tutor Evening on Thursday 23rd October, from 4pm to 6.30pm. This is a fantastic opportunity to meet with your child’s Personal Development Tutor, discuss how they’ve settled into life at Chase Terrace Academy, and ask any questions you might have.

Staff will also be available to help with My Child at School (MCAS) and Accelerated Reader, so you can track your child’s progress and support their reading journey. Representatives from the SEND Department and Pastoral Year Team will also be present.

We use an online appointment booking system for Tutor Evenings. The booking system will be made available to parents/carers from 9am on Wednesday 8th October and will close on Friday 17th October at 12pm. There is only availability for one appointment for each pupil rather than one appointment for each parent/carer. Please visit https://chaseterraceacademy.schoolcloud.co.uk to book your appointment. US Girls sessions!

Over the past few weeks, our pupils have been taking part in taster sessions for the Lichfield District Council’s US Girls Project! They had a fantastic chance to try out the fun, supportive activities that take place every Thursday evening at St John’s Church, Burntwood.

The sessions are open to all girls, free of charge, every Thursday at 6pm. It’s a great way to make new friends and try something different!

Year 9 French

Year 9 pupils have been developing both their design and language skills in their French lessons. As part of their topic about being at school, they have produced posters showcasing life at Chase Terrace Academy, applying their growing knowledge of French to represent our school community. Great work!

CTA Historians explore Berlin! 

This weekend, our Year 11 historians had the incredible experience of travelling to Berlin and exploring the historical sites within the city and beyond. They arrived on Friday morning, and took in the cultural sites of Brandenburg Gate, the Holocaust Memorial Site and the Reichstag Building – the political capital of Germany.

On Saturday, pupils bore witness to the lives lost in Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp during the Nazis reign, before visiting the Cold War-era Berlin Wall and Palace of Tears – the focal point of tension between the Soviet Communist East and NATO Capitalist West. At the camp, our students left messages along the testimonial wall – with Angel W thoughtfully writing “Learn from History – we are all human.” We ended the day with a trip to Alexanderplatz, where students ate and shopped beneath the TV Tower.

On our final day, pupils successfully navigated the metro system and travelled to Checkpoint Charlie and the Topography of Terror Museum. Here, students had a group photo in front of the bullet-ridden Gestapo HQ – the scene of the final showdown between the defeated Nazis and surrounding US-British forces, before walking back to the hotel via the park above the Fuhrerbunker… the area which witnessed the end of the Nazi leadership and liberation of Germany.
